NPD April 2019: MK11 #1, Days Gone #2, MLB #3. Switch best selling hardware.

Sony first party has really come into their own this generation.
It's one of the most iconic video game franchises of all time, it has a level of accessibility and polish most fighting games don't, and it has a big, well-made story mode that attracts a major casual audience.
Oh, and violence.
So between 700K and 879K? Pretty good for a game that it wasn't as critical acclaimed as Horizon or GoW.
Very good for Bend.

I want DQ11S to do better than the PS4/PC version to spite SE. the game could have done better, but SE stood in the way
not wrong, but it still takes considerable effort to top games like Smash Bros. MK11 is the kind of game to do it. others that could do it don't really come to Nintendo systems
Just saw that. Wow! I expected days gone to be top selling overall for the month but it couldn't even manage it on ps4
I mean, i was responding to a statement someone said which mentioned that japanese RPG pubs skip out on nintendo hardware. FF is making its debut, so it makes sense the interest would be very high, same with MK
MK11 Switch performance makes a lot of sense. Beyond the obvious that it is a good port released at the same time as other platforms, the IP has long history on Nintendo platforms. It's obviously another good sign that 3rd parties can do well on the platform if it is at all possible to port their games.

I don't know, MK11 is a nostalgic game so this doesn't any proof that non-nostalgic games would do well on the system ;)

2. God of War: ~1.9 million.
3. God of War 3: 1.15 million.
4. Horizon Zero Dawn: No exact number but more than 1 million.
5. The Last of Us: 985K (without digital).
6. God of War 2: 889K
7. Days Gone.
8. Uncharted 4: 879K (without digital).

If you Google "MK11 sales numbers" you get some "MK11 bombs because female designs are too SJW!" results, lol. I guess having the best opening in the series' history, the best opening for any WB game so far, and topping the charts on every platform is "bombing" nowadays.

Days Gone did really well. Combine that to its outstanding performance in other important markets (Japan, UK and Europe in general, Brazil, etc) we are sure to get some numbers soon enough from Sony.
In the west, that might actually be possible. Only in Japan do I see it not coming close
That didn't help a lot of other games do well on Nintendo systems or even do amazing on the Switch. I'd say offering good value multiplatform titles and remasters on a high selling system with an active install base had more to do with it than anything else
If only NRS had gone the SNK Heroines route, the game would have actually sold a decent amount. Now it just has to settle for #2 game of 2019.
Mk11 switch sales prove what many people know already which is the switch audience is diverse enough for multiple genre of games to do well.

MK11 Switch sales is a message to third-parties still embracing the Wii/Wii U days rethorics such as "Nintendo platforms is only for Nintendo games", "There's no market for 3rd-party games on Nintendo platforms" and "We can't compete against Nintendo." They need to quit with the cynicism and skepticism because the market/money is clearly there.

It's possible a Madden or FIFA or Guitar Hero or Rock Band game did so in the sixth or early seventh gen, mind you. But I don't think that has happened, EA Sports games have never done great on Nintendo, the first Rock Band was a delayed release on Wii, and Guitar Hero... maybe?
Days Gone has done really well for itself. When you consider it's a new IP from a somewhat "unknown" developer, I think its performance is pretty wild to be honest.
No comparison of how MK 11 did relatively to X?
I knew 3rd parties situation on the Switch was abysmal, but I didn't think it was this bad.
