Working on that also.
Lot of my MAGA supporting family are sending me links saying Obama depleted the N95 mask reserve during H1N1 and never restocked the supply. Any truth to this?

Even if true it's been 3 years since Obama left office. Obama's isn't president anymore. And Trump supporters only like bringing him up when their guy is fucking up so they can pass the buck. Excuse after excuse.

MAy be the wrong place to say this but I feel like just shutting down for 2 weeks versus stretching it out across 2 months like we seem to be doing (in America) seems like the better approach (for businesses too). Why all this dancing around closing or not closing when we could put a stop to it if we simply put hard restrictions in place and ended the uncertainty?

I feel like keeping the curbside service is at least objectionable for companies to keep themselves afloat, but I feel like businesses will suffer a slower death now by long drawn out periods of people not going versus just getting it done and over with.

You will have to shut down for months, because if you don't, your healthcare system won't be able to cope and people will simply die at home or I the streets untreated.

And a short absolute shutdown also won't work. As soon you lift that, the virus will just come back.
This is just something we will have to live with until a vaccine is available. There is now this new virus that's highly infective and has a relatively high lethality untreated, it won't just go away.

Trump can say whatever he wants, regarding when people can get back to work. It's still up to the governors of each individual state. Which means we'll probably see some states get better and some get way worse.

Anyone having any luck with any grocery delivery or pickup services? Trying to limit my grocery trips but seems like everything is clogged (Orange County CA). Got enough fresh stuff for the rest of the week but trying to plan for next week + shopping for elderly parents to limit their exposure.
I hope some bigger grocery stores start doing curbside pick up and let you order ahead online. It keeps everyone much safer. Especially the employees.

Situation is getting scary and it scares me that we have my daughter's 2month checkup in a couple weeks. She absolutely needs the shots and stuff but the pediatrics unit is right next to urgent care in our local clinic.

I was mostly discussing the spread but thanks for your reply as well. Sorry to sound ignorant about all this.

WV has finally issued a stay at home order

The Governor Jim "Caricature from a Mark Twain novel" Justice has declared that all non-essential businesses will close at 8 p.m. tomorrow, but hasn't put a moratorium on public gatherings or anything of the like.

Additionally, he's declared that, and I quote, "the most important thing we can do with this will be on Wednesday", which is when he's declared a state-wide day of Prayer. We're gonna pray the COVID-19 away. Furthermore, on Wednesday, he's going to have a bunch of leaders of faith in the same room in the capitol to pray extra hard on it. Together. In close proximity.

Also a LOT of churches here are still having services because reasons, so it's just going to get really bad here in the next month, I can feel it.

Lot of my MAGA supporting family are sending me links saying Obama depleted the N95 mask reserve during H1N1 and never restocked the supply. Any truth to this?

Even if Obama did actually "deplete" the entire government reserve of masks during a minor health scare that happened a decade ago, Trump has been president for the last three years and could have "restocked" at any time.

The actual answer: we had more than enough masks, but consumers bought them up in a scare and started scalping them, and Trump refuses to engage the order to mass-produce more because "socialism."

N95 masks are a standard item which, in normal times, can be bought in large numbers at any hardware store. Even if the claim was referencing some vague shred of truth, it would be totally irrelevant considering that Obama has been out of office since the start of 2017. If the stocks of N95 masks under control of the executive administration were inadequate for dealing with a potential epidemic, the new administration has had three years to correct this mistake.

I haven't been able to keep up with everything, but when are we going to know how China easing restrictions in the Wuhan region affects the spread there? I have my doubts about the supposed rapid reduction of new cases there, but even if it is true, it seems like there's no reason that it won't immediately flare right back up the moment people are out and about again. (Though I'm not sure the CCP would go out of their way to advertise such numbers.)

The same guy that was encouraging people to eat at Bob Evans, an open buffet, during a pandemic. Ridiculously dumb.

My apartment complex just emailed and said they're accepting partial payments for next months rent. Honestly I'm kinda surprised. Anyone else have this happen?

Looks like we're already hitting the surge limit in some places within the US.

What the hell does this even mean. You don't get 'offered' a ventilator in a setting where you could potentially be sent home. It's not an elective treatment patients can choose when they desire it.

You get access to a ventilator (if available) if your situation worsens to the point where you need it or else you die. This story would only make sense if the guy was sent home to die in an absolute palliative setting. But that isn't how it works because if the guy is respiratory insufficient to the point of needing a ventilator and you can't have one, you die in the hospital. You don't get sent home to then choke and die.

So this story needs clarification.

The epidemic in 2009 where he(Obama) simultaneously didn't act fast enough, depleted all the stock piles of medical supplies, and now(11 years later) where the smartest man to ever lived never thought to restock them. It's amazing times we live in.

Huh how did they get hold of it?

The real question is what brought them to the point of fucking self-medicating on drugs they haven't got a clue about.

The laymen fawning over these experimental treatments as if they are a cure is directly responsible for the death of these folks. That's why we should clamp down hard on any talk of chloroquine or other experimental drugs unless you are a medical professional that has experience in using it.
