It doesn't make sense for a for profit company to ramp up their production 100 fold, because those machines will be idle once the pandemic is over, and they're making good money anyway now.I wonder how long it will be before the mask makers can keep up with the demand? It seems that in Korea, regular citizens are able to purchase them without much trouble. I haven't seen any in my city since January.
The US government can just stand up production lines for those things, it doesn't require some sort of super advanced machinery.
That's what Taiwan did.
But sadly, we have people who believe the free market will solve anything.
