A lot of the stocking up during this hasn't made sense. Why is TP selling out like mad? I've never seen that in any other stock-up situation.
Obviously people buying sanitizer makes sense, but the insane stocking up of it has been odd.
😂People are obviously planning to eat a shiton of Chef Boyardee and then wrap themselves up in TP and hibernate until the summer. It's the only logical conclusion.
The person I replied to meant in general. There is stocking and then there is hoarding. People have a problem with the latter.
It's not feeling like we're getting a briefing.I'm sure we will have a briefing today. They said they were going to have waves of testing results come in starting yesterday.
With no vaccine the pampered rich old folks should be scared. The US will just let everyone without health insurance die to free up more beds for the affluent imo.
In Ontario Canada the standard is within 24 hours of receiving the sample.Maybe later? How long do results take to come back. They mentioned testing hundreds/up to a thousand a day starting yesterday.

People are just buying necessities so they don't need to go out as often to minimize contact with other people. I really don't understand why this is so hard to understand.
r0 is not constant, it depends on the conditions on the ground and the goal here is to lower it, which can be done.Honestly I hope it isn't on the hundreds as this virus has an R naught over 2 I just heard on an NPR. So spreads roughly 2x as much as a typical flu strain Unless those hundreds of cases have been under very heavy surveillance and their contacts also are being monitored and contained you're in the thousands of cases pretty quickly.
We are tho? Did you miss all those Costco pictures?

Also, latest estimate from the WHO is that it's transmitted less efficiently than seasonal flu, but I don't think anyone knows for sure yet.

Uhh we are? Especially on the west coast. Lots of empty Costcos
I don't know that anyone can tell just yet with any sort of confidence, but I would hope that it's true.

I think the biggest question no one has a definitive answer for just yet is just how infectious people are when they are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms. This fits with the "I'd be working through it if I didn't know it was CV" symptoms mentioned by the one guy who was on the cruise ship.
Edit: no I was wrong, it is 5.
They can afford to self-quarantine at least. if any of us not-wealthies have to do that for 2 weeks falling behind on bills like that we're fucked

Almost every research piece outside of the WHO has said the opposite, with it ranging between 2 and 6 for Ro. Influzena is less than 2 but is just extremely prevelant in the world, so many people catch it.
Wow this is wild.Definitely need more information about the two in their 20's at Swedish.
Yeah and I'm right between the nursing home and the hospital. Very good stuff. As someone who lives in King County god damn we ground zero for this shit in the U.S.
Might need to put a moratorium on elective surgeries, to add to the capacity.
