Why is this a thread? Striking pedestrians and killing them almost never results in charges because it's usually an accident.

So they all pretended that headlights were never invented, for the purposes of this case?

It's just after the sun had set and it's getting dark quickly, but might not be quite dark enough for automatic headlights to turn on. We don't know about this part. The girl might need counselling but jail time doesn't help anyone.

From a different article, the case was originally closed with no charges with the officer saying the accident was unavoidable. The city only moved to charge her after a father of the victim filed a civil lawsuit against the city alleging inadequate pedestrian protective measures in the area.
Cherokee County authorities initially closed the case against Reardon with no charges, but it was reopened in the midst of civil litigation against the City of Woodstock, where the group died. It's centered around a lack of pedestrian measures in place around an entertainment pavilion where the victims were headed to see a concert.

Jesus. It's pretty obvious that she's only being charged because the city is trying to blame her for the deaths rather than shouldering said blame themselves. This is really disgusting.

This seems to be a story about a tragic accident. The verdict reached by the court isn't especially discussion worthy, however, so this thread is closed.
