Microsoft had a commercial a year or two ago with a special needs kid. It is nice to see the industry embrace that kind of thing

One of my top 5 favorite films this year. Loved it.

That's very nice. Microsoft is very good with people with disabilities. You'd like to see more of this.

Color me impressed, Nintendo. I'm glad that this was done in a tasteful manner. And thank you for bringing this to our attention, OP.

Nintendo walks the walk when it comes to representation
I mean, Smash is currently lagging behind in representation, & that's with Nintendo having more of a say regarding DLC. So while this is definitely a good move that should be commended, I wouldn't say they walk the walk entirely. There's still room for improvement, but we should give them credit for the good steps taken (like this).

For a second there, I thought it was gonna be some God awful representation of someone with Down Syndrome. Nice to see that it was handled tastefully

Nintendo's Switch advertising has just been uniformly nailing it, and this is another positive mark for them. That's how you do representation.

Do we know the advertising company or companies that Nintendo has been working with? They've been knocking it out of the park since the Switch reveal

Thats very cool - at the same time its sad that this is something news worthy.
Should happen all the time, from all/more publishers.

Nice. I wish more people realised that, like most every 'condition', it's not binary but a spectrum of symptoms and intensities.

And don't forget that they made the adaptative controller! I think i read somewhere that it can be used on Switch (I think Ps4 too) through an adaptor.

I honestly wanted to make a thread about how cool Nintendo of America is with regards to representation and inclusivity. They rock. They even have small stuff such as helping employees who choose to adopt instead of conceiving

Which is weird considering Nintendo of Japan is really bad with this stuff

As a parent of a child with Down Syndrome, seeing things like this make me feel positive for the future I'm raising him to live in. Love seeing the mainstream acceptance, not just from Nintendo, but from the other companies out there doing this.

Love it- this is wonderful.
Representation is always good, but I feel like we don't talk about it for those with conditions and accessibility needs as much as we should.

Also, I hope one day we'll get a remake of Paper Mario TTYD with a proper English translation that doesn't change Vivian from being a transwoman.

Its good that said actor is included in the ad without awful inspiration porn or stereotypes of being super happy. Though I wish we could have higher expectations from companies we like.

Do posters have to use patronising and outdated language like "special needs" and "handicapped" though. Disabled isn't a bad word.
And language like this really doesn't encompass that it is society that makes us Disabled and including Disabled folks isn't some massive effort which non Disabled people should be surrounded with praise for.
