That is truly peak Nintendo. $30 more per year just for that is fucking hilarious.

Yikes. What if you don't play AC and don't want the DLC?

$50 for N64 games is insane, plus most (if not all) of those Genesis games you can get for dirt cheap on Steam, they're on sale there all the time.

It really depends on what else they add. For just emulated games thats a mega hike, but if they consistently include dlc (or other games) as part of it then that doesn't seem awful. Hopefully they actually communicate what they intend to do there

Well, that was more than I expected. If it includes DLC from other games that could justify the price hike. Not into Animal Crossing so I can't say this a hit with me.

Wait so what happens if I sub, get the Animal Crossing DLC, and want to unsub later? Will my AC save be effed unless I buy the DLC or resub?

That's about what I expected, seems reasonable for the older games and DLC. I will probably end up buying it separately so it's not tied to a subscription. Or maybe they'll do a new physical release with everything.

More than double the price? Damn. I pay for a family sub, so I'll continue using it but as this point surely they could sort out that shit online app and make the online play more fully featured.

If they're including the AC DLC (and plan on including other DLC bundles in the future), this makes sense for some users. But definitely not everyone.

That DLC not being locked behind a membership makes this go down easier.
This would probably be received better if they offered a cheaper option for the expansion without the DLC.

Not excusing that price hike by any means, but it sort of feels like $25 for the first year for me since I'm grabbing that DLC regardless.

Uk price is £34.99 and for the family it's £59.99

In Europe's it's €39.99 and €69.99.

So it's about double

They're basically realizing they left a ton of money on the table with an underpriced $20/yr service, which is basically the cheapest sub service in all of entertainment. This is their attempt at a correction but it is a bit hard to dig out of the hole once you have anchored prices too low. I suspect this will do better with the general populace than the super price sensitive gamer forum crowd though

If it includes the DLC of every or most future Nintendo games then I think the price is more than fair, though if not Nintendo can just fuck off.

Not nearly as bad as I was expecting with the Animal Crossing dlc included. I assumed it would be $20 extra for the legacy systems and nothing else. Definitely another good reason to use and abuse the family price

I wonder how upgrading will work if you're already subbed

My question is do you lose access to the dlc if your membership lapses, the same way you would with PS+ or gamepass.

Seems fine for people interested in Animal Crossing. Hope they add other DLC packs in to the Expansion Pak, as well.

I'm in on this, excited for N64 and Genesis games.

$80 for family, that can hold 8 people.

So $10 a year per person.

That isn't that bad...

Why so many people trying to justify the price with it including DLC? Did y'all forget you'll be needing to pay another $50 to renew next year?

Yeah that's bullshit to make this $50 by forcing a $25 AC DLC in there. I play Animal Crossing, but for the people who don't and just wanted access to N64 and Sega, that really sucks. They should have a $30-35 tier that doesn't include that. Weird ass Nintendo decision.

If, and I mean BIG if the new super membership includes future dlc for future games, it could be totally worth it. But that's such an unknown.

For me since I was going to pick up the DLC it makes sense for me.

But this is way more dear that I expected.

I hope it means we will get better NSO games with even more benefits

I'd maybe MAYBE consider it if you didn't lose access to the DLC when it expires.

but what if you don't own or want to keep playing animal crossing?
True it's a lot but it's still something you're entitled to that they're giving away with membership. I imagine a lot of animal crossing fans have online to play with friends. Bummer for sure tho for those who wanted 64 games but not AC.

then again I can't imagine Xbox is licensing those rare games for as dirt cheap as sega is licensing genesis games tho.

Gosh America got screwed in pricing. Here's how it is in the UK

Yeah, I'm with that price. It's worth it for me, even if just for a year or so. For once, we get a semi-decent deal!

but then if you pay the $25 for the AC DLC and later want just some N64 games… you're forced to kind of pay for the DLC again. Really strange

they could have done something like if you buy the expansion you get 25-50% off any Nintendo first party DLC

Considering it would cost me between $50-$75 to purchase 2-3 DLC packs for kids to play, I'm in for the Family expansion pack.
