I'm in the opposite situation, got Dread but not looking like I'll have my OLED until sometime next week.
Annoying because I'm not going to play Dread until I get my OLED. Weekend plans gone.
To be fair, I already have red and blue Joy-Cons (among many, many others), so going with the white was a no brainer.
Yeah, me too. My original Switch was the Neon, but I got rid of those and switched(ha)to the reverse Splatoon pair, and just recently got the Skyward Sword set. I just want a nice, normal pair now.
I hope so man. Really rough few days and at least had this to look forward to on a Friday. I know its just a dumb video game thing but ain't nothin gone my way the past few days haha.
I'm going to swap the white joy cons out for my skyward sword ones, so the different joy con colors don't really matter to me. But I love the look of the white dock and it'll fit right with my PS5.
Isn't dumb to want to catch a break and have something to take your mind off things. I feel you. I hope you get the pickup notice and that things turn around in general soon.
Gamestop's website now updated to say it's shipped and said it should be here tomorrow. Here's hoping that's actually true.
I honestly didn't know there was a colored joycon option. Fuck lmao. I literally gave up my plans to try to trade up specifically because I dont like how the white looks. dammit.

Not dumb at all! I'm almost 40yo, 2 kids and about to get divorced. I STILL love and get excited about video games to this day. Aside from working out playing games is my 2nd favorite thing to do in my spare time, brings a lot happiness!
This is a little different since it's a small update and not a huge new console. But I do expect people but not a zillion

On Black Friday last year, my GameStop opened its doors at 7AM. I showed up at noon the previous day for a Series X. So many people were all kinds of frustrated to see me there so soon. The manager actually showed up at about 2PM that day (Thanksgiving, so they were closed) because he forgot something and let me know they would have a grand total of four Series X units and zero PS5s.
As you can imagine, I did my best to inform people (most were there for the PS5, unsurprisingly, but we still had a long line just for Xbox) but many of them refused to believe me. Thought it was a ploy or something. I told them, hey, it's your time. I feel you. You'll find out when you find out. Some even outright told me the manager lied to me. lol
We also had fake security officers show up trying to tell us we had to vacate. Fake IDs and everything. They got so pissed off by the third or so time they showed up. Started screaming at us that our time was up; the cops were on their way and we should have been smarter. I timed it so the cops did indeed show up - to arrest them.

So I see on eBay I could get a really great price for my v1 moddable switch. I would love to make that kind of money off it and eBay is a better/quicker bet for that than marketplace although I'll try there too.
My question is: is there any way for me to protect myself against a buyer that wants to abuse eBay? This could be a $350+ sale but I'm so nervous about losing all that money instead.

I would try Facebook Marketplace first. I would be too scared and stressed out of any claims by selling it on eBay.
Heck, I sold my V2 a month ago on Facebook Marketplace for $300 USD.
They are really going for that much? Even updated firmwares?

Yeah, it's wild. I've seen just the tablet itself go for $400+ on eBay in the last week, which, I guess some people really want a v1 switch! I'd like to try selling the tablet only first and see how that goes because I'd like to keep my dock and red/blue joy-cons. I figure I'll have quite a bit less luck on FB Marketplace selling just the tablet than if it were the whole console but I'm going to try.
I'm glad it's not just me intensely afraid to sell high value items on eBay.

I use the black and pink combo alot
Have those, the Grays, Mario Reds, and the Zelda. What I would really like is a full set of Purple at this point.
Edit: Occasionally I like to swap backplates for different colors.

Yeah looking again at "Switch V1" on eBay it looks like maybe $300 if it's in good condition with all accessories. By the time you account for fees and shipping that's like $250.
There's higher listings but they're hacked and loaded with games illegally. Hacked and not loaded with games does go for a bit more if someone is interested in that, but I think eBay can take action against listings of hacked models.

I did see this at $430 which has sold several at that price and this one that sold for $300 without any accessories. But definitely not as prevalent as my rushed glance the other day made me think. Hmm...
If it's launch day then you're good to go - the security flaw is in the hardware so it's impossible for it to be patched out with a firmware update or anything! Yeah OfferUp would be whole new account/procedures for me and I don't think the potentially small pool would be worth it
just got back from my gamestop and the dude said he was expecting people to camp out starting at 1am tonight because there's new fucking pokemon cards coming out too and people are gonna get both. I'm not getting in line that early. However I am really on the fence as to whether or not I want to trade in my current launch switch for $240? or is it 260? can anyone confirm?, and then just wait until I can nab an OLED when they come in. Difficult choice, dont really want the hassle, if it was available right away I'd get it no question though..

Huh, the guy at mine wouldn't say how many they had except that they'd have a small batch. He said there were multiple product launches that people are waiting on so don't be surprised or discouraged if there's a line. It's two minutes from my house so I guess I'll pop by when I get home from work (8 am) and if there's a line I'll just ask what people are waiting for
