Didn't the last major version increase include a lot of changes that were not visible to the users?
Maybe 7.0 is something similar in that regards.

Where's the chicken stability.gif. And seriously Nintendo, no folders, bluetooth, Netflix, crunchroll, etc. This is 2019, not 2009.

Why do people keep acting like this has literally anything to do with system updates? Companies behind streaming services can submit their apps to Nintendo whenever they want.

Like others have said, folders/icon ordering, some different themes, and PIN security... at least give us some colors that match the current assortment of Joy-Con colors or icon background colors. And bring the Miiverse back.

Nintendo wants the Switch OS to be as lean as possible. That's probably what's preventing themes and other basic features. That's why we don't have voice chat built in at a system level.
Nintendo apologists are the worst. The OS is an empty shell compared to rival offerings and has been eclipsed by literally every console of the modern era, handheld or otherwise.

Honestly, I thought they had omitted most of those features (due to how much of a train wreck the Wii U was), not so much with keeping the OS lean. Regardless, I might send a letter to complain about this.

That's not why. We don't have system VOIP because Nintendo decided to outsource their entire online software implementation to a mobile dev, who proceeded to do what they do (develop it for mobile), ended implementing maybe 20%, and have been MIA since.

Where are my stability gifs?

In a serious tone, Nintendo needs to add system VOIP. The app failed, people use Discord for voice chat, which is superior. Hell Nintendo, PARTNER WITH DISCORD.

Another Japanese company fails to understand semantic versioning. I'm shocked.

I'm curious about that too. That tweet seems vague - has something been datamined?
They're looking at it now. The tweets say everything he knows—that what's inside indicates sweeping changes (or additions) for some reason or another. Whether they'll figure out why just yet, we'll see.

For those moaning about version numbers - a lot of developers follow this structure these days :
https://semver.org/

As previously stated by someone, a major can happen for anything that's a breaking change in previous code or a major update. Give. the language changes ( a major feature for that region of the world ), the encryption changes and all the new apis mentioned, it's reasonable to bump.

Also, snes in Nintendo online will probably be included but not yet turned on

It's disappointing how long it takes for Nintendo to come up with features the userbase wants, or even expected at launch. That is, if they're even working on those features.

I never said I agreed with their bullshit. I think it's stupid. I remember reading quotes in the past about them wanting the OS to use the least amount of resources available. Am I wrong to assume that more features would require the OS to utilize more resources?

Folders look like a 30.0 feature at this point :(

I really wish Nintendo would show some competence for once. From the lacking OS to their garbage build quality joy-cons, the Switch has been a bit of a miss so far.

NsmbU icons.
Exactly what we were all waiting for. How do they do to perfectly point out at our hopes and expectations ?

Edit :
On a serious note, I'm fine with this os, I would just want a better activity log and a better friend list management with more social options.
Otherwise the thing does what it has to do, it launches games and it does it Quick.

Ah, I was shook by the Metro Exodus Exodus yesterday, but this stability update came at just the right time to fix me up. Thanks Nintendo!

NSMBU icons though... Literally no one asked for this while Smash has such amazing untapped art assets.

I'm not an apologist and I want features for everyone who wants them. Having less features than your previous consoles is crazy.

For me personally however, the only thing I use all my consoles for is for gaming. I boot up the console, click on the game and want to play. So, for me personally again, Switch is perfect and fastest of them all.

It's great if I didn't have to hunt for my games since I'm 100% digital. I just need some game organization and folders is probably the easiest way.

I'm not sure if people are being sincere about wanting Smash Bros icons, but I'd imagine that there are difficulties with the rights for third-party characters like Cloud and Snake that don't allow them to be used outside of the game. And then Nintendo probably thinks it would be weird to have some of the characters but not all. At best we could maybe the the original 12 and the smash logo, IMO.

Not an excuse for the lack of other stuff like Donkey Kong or Xenoblade that they could easily get the okay to use, though. Do we even have second party stuff like Kirby or Fire Emblem?
