So this might be a stupid question, but who "owns" Era (technically or otherwise)? Now that I think about I actually have no clue. It's not Nepenthe, is it?
If not, can this be escalated further up the ladder somehow? Surely they can see how insane this is???

I can't speak for everyone, but I personally do not feel you have any responsibility here Quinton. I've always liked you and thought you did a very good job moderating. I hope you can understand why we find the apparently official staff stance on the MC stuff unacceptable, though.
Please join! I don't love Discord either but at the very least we can do this temporarily while we find a better solution
Posting for the discord link as well. It's unlikely I'll return to the MC threads even if they continue to exist given that last post (and a multitude of other reasons) but I really love the community and discussing numbers with everyone when I have the time.

<3 To be completely honest, I spend less time modding than most on staff. I wish I could do more to help but as soon as my writing career took off... it's just not been easy to set aside time. So I kind of vanish from the discourse simply by virtue of not being especially active.
I appreciate the kind words, though! I'm catching up on everything that's gone on, and I won't say anything on the matter here except this -- and I really hope that's fairly understood! -- wow, what a mess.
I am on the discord as a last resort, but good grief I hope it doesn't come to that. I f*cking hate discord it's tailor made to give me anxiety. Not to mention previous times I've popped my head in I've seen people who were banned from here for very good reason so yeah wasn't really a place I wanted to frequent.
Here I thought today we'd coast on the Direct announcement, sink into despair for a moment, make a few cracks about Subway, then the day would be done. Didn't think there'd be a mass exodus because of stuff going on around the board.
I'm in the same boat. Just not willing to adjust to a format that is imo not conductive to the kind of mix of discussion and shitposting I love about this place. Plus, I'm pretty sure I was banned from the Discord for posting a screenshot on Era which I didn't know was against the rules but I never checked if it was temporary or permanent lmao
I hope we can all at least enjoy another Direct together tomorrow! Whether or not it's the last the community celebrates on Era, I'm selfishly demanding this because I didn't get into Nintendo fare in a big way until three years ago so I'm still playing catch-up relative to how many Directs y'all have seen together.

I think people are just assuming that right after the MC thread, the most likely target would be this community so might as well keep the option open or jump ship in advance.
I trust that you can write your article with one hand and shitpost in these threads with the other!
Echoing similar sentiments Quinton, I can understand that moderation is a thankless job, and the ones who've lurked this side of Nintendo have been good for the most part, it's just tough having to see such strife across the board.
