Has anyone here ever heard of Don't Give Up: A Cynical Tale? It's got great Steam reviews but so does everything, and the premise interests me a lot, where it's an RPG about a depressed indie dev.

Cozy Grove and House in Fata Morgana for me.

I saw it listed in the Coming Soon section of the eshop but that's as much as I know.

Apologies if this isn't the thread for it but is there usually a Spring sale on the eshop?

They had one in 2018 and last year, so it's likely they will have something this year. Of course they could wait until E3 timeframe, but that's riskier with uncertainty around that. Probably will have one by June at least.

Fata Morgana already preordered. That will probably be all for me this month. Trying not to waste any more money feeding my backlog.

April's already upon us. Phew.

Nothing really that I'm chomping at the bit for, but I'm down for anything that gets good buzz. This month's probably catchup for me before New Pokémon Snap.

Fata Morgana looks like the only thing for me and that's a maybe. Next month is a killer month for me.

As usual thanks for making my favorite thread!

Ayo, not sure if this is the right place for this, but I'm going to stop by this thread to ask a brief question. My gold coins from my Animal Crossing New Horizons purchase are about to expire, and I have some small amount of spare change on my account still left. I'm having difficulty deciding what to purchase and have been looking at Florence, Radio Squid, Way of the Passive Fist, Flood of Light, Donut County, Nefarious, Blazblue CrossTag Battle, and Despotism 3k. Has anyone here played these and are they any good? Also, if anyone has any other game recs for something that's fairly cheap and worthwhile, let me know if possible. Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it!

Thankfully quiet month... my backlog is staggering. Yet I decided to round out the SRW trilogy. Mario golf and MHS are the only announced things so far for me

I bought nothing new or old last month. I expect it to continue. Yes, MonHun Rise has been tempting to get day one and I have an NSO sub. But eh, there's been nothing really moving the needle for me so I live vicariously through various gaming podcasts. I'll wait for a sale or two. I'll just keep chipping away at the games I have.

New Pokemon Snap for me & my girlfriend. I keep forgetting R-Type Final 2 is out so soon. I have the original PS2 game that I should give a try to see if I should be interested in this new one.

Quite month indeed. But unlike others, I don't have a backlog to worry about, I need more games. I'm keeping it slow with MH, I don't want it to end so fast, so I need every quality game comes out this month.

This is my current list for the month:

Star Wars Republic Commando
SaGa Frontier
Trails of Cold Steel IV
Fighting EX Layer Another Dash (full pack)
Death end re;Quest
R-Type Final 2

Waiting for the reviews:
New Pokémon Snap (I've never played the original, I'm quite skeptical)

Yay R-Type Final 2 and iirc also Cotton's western release. Really wish RTF2 is a great port.

Yes.
In fact it started half an hour ago afaik and it's themed around multiplayer games (Mario Party, Splatoon, DG Fighterz etc.).
2K games and Annapurna's already started the other day. EU btw

R-Type 2 Final!

Funny how it feels like it's still a month away because it releases at the end of the month.

Still well into Saviors of Sapphire Wings, enjoying it quite a bit. Playing some MH Rise on the side as well.

There is a reasonable chance SaGa Frontier will be my GOTY, outside of the question of whether or not remasters should be eligible for such a thing. But I'm excited either way.

Will also grab R-Type, partially because I haven't played a shmup for a while, and also because NISA's retail releases seem to go out of print quickly these days.

Otherwise April's actually pretty light for me compared to how heavy May and June will be.

I'm so happy for these threads, thank you so much! I'm such a casual gamer tht barely has time to check out games and I probably would have never looked at R Type and Godstrike. These games look right up my alley and I will take any other recommendations that are like these games.

I highly recommend Donut County.

Looks like this could be my first quiet month for a long while, although I'll keep my eye on the reviews for Cozy Grove.

I don't see myself getting anything this month (I already have House in Fata Morgana on Vita), but I did end up grabbing the Famicom Fire Emblem before the Thanos snap so there's that.

Once again, thank you for all the time and effort you put into doing these threads every month tolkir!

After deciding not to buy Narita Boy until a few patches and a deep sale down the line, last month has been a quiet one for me, especially with me waiting for the physical version of 'Kaze and the Wild Masks'.

I can't say that anything jumps out at me this month either...

Cozy Grove art style looks invitingly charming, but I am not a fan of the building/farming genre, and I only got a few hours in The House in Fata Morgana elsewhere before realising it's not for me.

It is a backlog month for me with both PixelJunk Eden 2 and Coffee Talk waiting in the reserves ... 😊

Has anyone here played these and are they any good? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it!

Honestly, anything that Annapurna publishes is always worth buying (with the outlier exception of Ashen) so, both Donut Country and Florence would be two totally — and tonally — different games that are definitely worth buying, even if you have to pay more outside of the number of Gold Coins you have left.

... but I did end up grabbing the Famicom Fire Emblem before the Thanos snap so there's that.

Excuse me?

I knew about Super Mario 3D Collection thingummy disappearing, but Fire Emblem? Are you being serious?

you realize this is about the first-time-localized Famicom Fire Emblem game they released for six bucks back in early December right, not any of the current Fire Emblems? Just making sure, going by the strong reaction :)

I'm definitely grabbing Battle Axe.

Edit: And R-Type Final 2, of course. I chose the Switch version from the KS. I'll double-dip a PC copy if the game is great.

I probably won't pick up any of the April releases, unless New Pokemon Snap rakes in incredible reviews. I think Monster Hunter (and my backlog) will carry me through the month and then some.

That was only available until yesterday too, I'm afraid.

Aw, fiddlesticks...

I knew about the Super Mario 3D All-Stars being a limited/timed release — as does my partner whom knows very little about computer games — however, I was genuinely none the wiser about this Fire Emblem game being part of the deal ... 😕

Upon viewing my wish list on Deku Deals, there's nary a game that is part of this spring sale, boo-hoo.

'Good Job' is on sale for the first time since it launched exactly a year ago. 30% off, so down to £12.59

Don't sleep on this game. It's absolutely fantastic.

Nintendo published.

Is the audio in Ty the Tasmanian Tiger a little weird? It sounds like it's coming out of a tin can (at the start of the game at least?)

Has anyone played Cozy Grove on Apple Arcade, worth it?

I've played about an hour of Cozy Grove on Apple Arcade.
It's verrrrry cozy lol.
The music is great and matches the look and feel of the game - you are stranded in an island during a solo camping trip and have to help these spirits so they can move on.

It's an exploration/questing/crafting/foraging-mining-fishing kind of game.

Progression is based on Spirit Logs which you are given for helping the spirits you find. You turn in a wet amount of logs and a new area is opened in the world and a new spirit arrives who will need help.
Spirits look to have a relationship meter with you with a max of 5 hearts which I assume will end their story and quests.

The game does have one oddity and it's that at a point, there will be no quests left for the day you are on (it seems to be using real world 24 hour clock). You can fish or forage still that day but there will be no more quests to complete and spirit logs to obtain until the next day.

Devs have stated there are months worth of days of content and over 40 hours of game but....you only get so much each real day so that's uhhh weird.

Overall I like it. The controls will surely be better with a controller, and I wish the gameplay wasn't gated day by day, but it's charming and ...cozy lol

Well Fire Emblem also had its anniversary last year (30th). This was released in celebration of that.

Some good games coming up. Interested in Say No More, Battle Axe, and Godstrike.

Edit: Also I don't know if you want to advertise Breathedge. It has a lot of alt right references and anti queer humour in it. Just a fyi.

Nintendo said up front that the Famicom Fire Emblem was going to be available for a limited time only, but I don't blame you for not knowing - Mario garnered all of the attention/outrage/memes for the limited time releases that Fire Emblem kind of became an afterthought. I'm sorry you missed out. :(
