I recently RTTP'd Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. Wrote up a thread here, just wanted to share:

RTTP Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker: 8.5 paragraphs, fairly easy

Bonus points to anyone besides TheMoon who gets the reference. And hi Aostia AKA the creator of the El Capitan Todd meme. Beware, there are unmarked spoilers in this thread. I have a long history with this game. When Nintendo announced this and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse and fully unveiled...

Fell Seal is probably the closest indie games have gotten to the "feel" of classic console SRPGs. Doesn't nail everything (character models for humanoids in Fell Seal's case) but it's impressive the amount of things they did get right.

The Switch version is kind of a bummer, on handheld at least. Minuscule text and the scaling on the pixel art isn't great.

However.

I'm really into it, played like six hours in the last two days. Fun / sprawling class system. Solid AI. Missions start... not exactly difficult, but definitely serious. Character creation is fun, too.

So last year the most expensive digital software ever released on the US (or quite possibly any region) 3DS eShop dropped out of nowhere at a cool price-point of just $99.99. I am, of course, referring to the transcendent experience that is PDI Check, "an interactive multiple-choice game utilizing the unique color, 3-dimensional screen on the Nintendo 3DS system to quickly and accurately measure near visual acuity, color vision and stereopsis."

Now, for a limited time only, this interactive curiosity can be yours at 95% off, for the ultra-low price of $4.99!

Hey folks! Hope everyone is safe. What do y'all think about Mudrunner American Wilds? Seems like a game I would enjoy (seems quite relaxing) and has a deep discount, but I'm not sure yet about it.

Swords & Soldiers (the first game) is now available at an extreme discount in EU (87% off). It's a really great strategic game, both for single (the "barbecue sauce" campaign) and for the 2-player local combat mode.

I am still undecided about how to spend my 10€ of gold points. At the end, I think I will get Murder by Numbers or the DLC of Mario&Rabbids. Probably I will get the former, since I like Ace Attorney-like games and nonograms, even though it isn't on sale.

How is the text size compared to Fire Emblem?

Fun game. Switch version looks good and runs well, though the visuals can be a bit muddy, no pun intended.

Any good racing game recommendations that are not Kart racers or top down (I already have a bunch of those)?
Will only be played in handheld mode if that matters.

FAST RMX?
The people who made Party Golf made a racer game but I forget its name.
Runbow is a platformer but you race others to get to the other side?
You can race in LEGO City Undercover but that might be reaching.

Check Grid Autosport, it should be good and has good performance. Unfortunately, I cannot tell about it directly because I don't own it yet, I'm just not keen to spend 35€ on a digital purchase.

Grid Autosport is great if you're into Arcade-Sim racers (games like Forza Horizon, yeah that denomination is definitely an oxymoron lol) and the Switch port is fantastic. Graphics/Performance/Energy Saving modes and it even supports play with a Gamecube Controller so to use its analog triggers to get full on analog throttle if you wish.
Huge amount of content.
The only way I would not recommend it is if you're used to play in cockpit mode. Cockpits were added after the fact because it was released during a time Codemaster had this fuckin epiphany that players don't use cockpit mode and it's a huge waste of dev's money so a bunch of their games started not including that camera view and G.A. is one of such games... then, don't remember if before/after launch of G.A., Codemasters added the cockpit camera view where the cockpits are worse/on par with GT5's standard cars...
So yeah, it's fine if you play bumper/3rd person/etc tho.

All DLCs are included in the game you can download a free High-Res Car Textures Pack that's 3GB on the eShop that replaces the textures for ALL cars with high-res versions.

Geez, in the almost 8 hours I've been playing Piczle Cross Adventure, the game has locked up on me three times, twice as I was around 95% done with a puzzle, meaning I had to start the puzzle from scratch, which is annoying when it's a 15x15 or 20x15 puzzle that took quite a few minutes to figure out.

I'd recommend you wait for X-Com 2 next month. That's going to be a bad ass game. It's like FE but not Anime and awesome (but also with worse music. FE3H OST was fire!)
Thanks for talking me out of it. I go through phases where I need something to kill the time, it's also those times when I I buy stuff on sale which I probably shouldn't be getting. Not to say felseal isn't a good game, but it probably isn't for me.

I did completely forget that the xcom side game is out coming Friday!

SEGA AGES Out Run, a fantastic version of one of the all-time great racing games.

I really wanted to like this, but the scrolling 2D turns are unreadable to me nowadays. I didn't play this version specifically but the one in Yakuza IIRC. I wonder what changed. Liked that game a lot a long time ago 😭

Let me talk you back into it: Fell Seal is a lot more like Fire Emblem than XCOM which isn't very much like Fire Emblem at all with its massive focus on ranged combat and abilities and the whole base building (plus you have no actual characters and no proper story outside of "aliens bad, kill aliens!").

How's Civilisation VI on Switch? It's £22 for the main game which is a decent price but the expansion pack is still £32 and I hear it's kind of essential?

I'm on a mission to clean out the bigger titles from my Switch backlog.

Last night I finished up the main story of Astral Chain, now that was a really good game. I enjoyed the unique gameplay. The mix of slower investigations and fast paced action segments felt really good. The game looked great, especially the mix of run down, dilapidated slums and the neon soaked plazas. The colour work in the game is beautiful. Not sure I want to do all the File 12 post game, mostly because I'm just itching to move on and complete some more games - but maybe I'll return to it, I definitely enjoy the depth of the combat.

Now I'll do a refresher run of Bayonetta, since I haven't played the game in ages. Then it's time to finally play Bayonetta 2 which I've neglected for far too long.

Either I'm missing something completely obvious or I did something wrong & broke my game, because I have no way of progressing forward in Piczle Cross Adventures. Made it to the final area & a puzzle that requires me to be level 9, but I've done all the puzzles possible & no idea how to get pass a bear blocking me into another area....

One of my brothers and a couple of friends have it and are positive - and that's been the same with what I've read online. People have said the on huge maps, the game does slow down towards the but IIRC, restarting improves that it and to a degree, that happens on other systems, I think.

For me, the base game is more satisfying that Civ 5, which I felt was fine but really needed the main DLC. With 6, I enjoyed the addition Rise and Fall - will get Gathering Storm sometime, most likely. As I have the iOS version, I had fair wait for the main DLC to be added but was quite happy with playing the game as was.

Regarding price, going from memory, but on the switch, you get the most content with the base game - think it includes four civ and scenario packs, which you have to pay on other systems. I play the iOS version and Rise & Fall costs £28.99, but bought it half price. Gathering Storm is £38.99... a big reason why I haven't bought it. The PC version of GS is £35 and think that's half price at the moment. I've definitely got my monies' worth, but tbh, think the Switch offers better value - £32 for both main expansions is a fair price to me.

Thanks for the write up, I think I'm going to take the plunge and grab the base game. I've only played one Civ game which was 4 I think so hopefully I won't really notice much missing without the expansions!

Would you recommend fell seal to someone who really enjoyed fire emblem?

Absolutely. Especially now that it's on sale.

Also, there's a very good chance the Switch port of XCOM 2 is going to be shit, given how the PS4 version runs.

SAME. HERE. That's pretty much my exact thoughts on Astral Chain. I thought the combat was excellent and enjoyed the slower sections. I think it looked beautiful in handheld mode. I went to play Nier Automata immediately after finishing Astral Chain and was so put off by the brown and bland colors. And the combat is nowhere near on the level of Astral Chain.

AC is a really good game! I don't know if I'll ever replay it, but I'll probably jump in and do a File 12 mission here and there just to enjoy the combat.

I just moved on to FF7R and it's a great transition game from AC. Great combat that looks soooo cool in motion and nice vivid colors in the worlds.

Fell Seal is for people who enjoyed Tactics Ogre.

If you have any affinity for The Dark Crystal, you might pick that up. It's surprisingly solid. Much more accessible than Fell Seal but still deep if you want it. The story might be incomprehensible if you haven't watched the show, tho.

Finished The Missing last night, it hit me way harder than I expected, even knowing the 'twist' well ahead of time. Really lovely game. Some of the puzzles are sort of painfully tedious and the voice acting is pretty tonally mismatched from the actual situations the characters are talking about, but even that stuff sort of contributes to everything feeling a bit "off". It also seems like Swery is committed to saving like half of his games' budgets for the final handful of sequences, but it makes those parts super surprising and exciting.
Now that I've played this and Deadly Premonition, it's absurdly exciting to me that there are two Swery games scheduled to come out (on Switch even!) this year.

Might pick up Katana Zero next to mix things up a bit, but I also want to try In Other Waters.....trying to stick to just one game at a time (alongside Animal Crossing) now that I have a decent bit more time to play.

I'm stuck on the last story tournament in Golf Story since I forgot to switch to the precision club (using the standard ones). It requires pulling off Eagles, Birdies, and maybe a hole-in-one to come out on top. Wind resistance kills it for me sadly. I wish the game loaded the save state prior to the tournament to prepare for it.:(

I put it on the backburner and will try again another time but if I can't beat it, I'll resign myself to calling it finished and watch the ending on YouTube. I enjoyed the game quite a lot with 26hrs sunk into it so it's worth it IMHO. I'm really looking forward to Sports Story for sure. Hopefully, the devs address the issues that were in GS.

Last Piczle Cross Adventure post hopefully, but man, I must've spent over an hour or two now just trying to figure out how the hell I'm suppose to advance the game/gain entry to a new area to solve the last few puzzles. I legit have never been this stumped as to what I'm suppose to do & the fact I can't find anything else online just makes me feel like I can't play anymore until I get lucky & someone uploads footage or posts something that I can read & figure out what to do.

Doesn't help the game is glitched in 2 more ways, one being I don't get the trophy for catching all types of fish (unless there's a secret 9th type) & you don't need to wait for the bobber to dip down, you can mash A as soon as it lands in the water & the game considers it a "perfect"

I really can't wait for Picross S4 to arrive so I can play a Picross game where the puzzles are just there to play & I don't have to go pixel hunting on a map finding a secret or figuring out how to access more puzzles.

& it sucks, because I would still recommend the game overall, but I feel like an idiot not being able to figure out how to advance the game when I'm solving all these 15x15 & 20x15 puzzles & just wanna finish the game.

That's why I returned to proper Picross while playing Murder by Numbers (which I enjoyed a lot, mind!), I had 20 hours on S1 before MbN, now I've completed it in 50 and bought almost every Picross on the platform lol

Oh my god.

OH MY GOD.

I FIGURED IT OUT. AND IT'S BECAUSE THE GAME IS GLITCHED.

So okay. That fishing mini-game I mentioned previously? Turns out the game doesn't save your catches if you get more than one fish per play, meaning after catching a fish, you have to exit out, then reselect the pole, & start it again.

& one of the 8 things you can catch is a specific type of fish which then appears on the item behind the fishing pole.

SO 2 HOURS WASTED FINDING OUT THE GAME WASN'T SAVING/WORKING PROPERLY.

i'm kinda happy that i never bother with the piczle/pic-a-pix/etc games on the eshop, i already play too much picross as it is, and something about those games always looks off.

Now that I've played this and Deadly Premonition, it's absurdly exciting to me that there are two Swery games scheduled to come out (on Switch even!) this year.
i'm in the same boat, after playing the missing and deadly premonition i can pretty much blindly buy any new game swery makes and to have two new games from him coming this year (🤞) is beyond exciting.

Well finished the original FFVII, can definitely see why it's highly regarded. First FF I've beaten(made progress on III(6) on the Snes mini a while back but haven't finished it).

Now what to continue working on next, Octopath or SRR(or TWEWY). Think I want to clear another before starting TMS#FEE... maybe
