Do note that Pokémon has been at Nintendo's E3s since 2013

2013: XY Fairy-type reveal & Roundtable
2014: ORAS gameplay reveal
2015: Dungeon
2016: SM trailer, Pokémon reveals & gameplay demo
2017: Reveal of Switch games
2018: Let's Go Poké Bal Plus Mew News
2019: SWSH Nessa, Yamper & Impidimp and community apocalypse catalyst

So I expect something here at least

Note: This is not indicative of insider knowledge

legends footage on a Pro would be sick tbh

Exlusively focused on Switch software it basically saying we're not showing or announcing anything Super Switch exlusive. Everybody can join in on the fun. I still do want to see trailers of Pro enhanced games though. Can't imagine Zelda not being shown running on a pro in some way.

So, we can expect the Switch Pro to be announced before Nintendo's E3 presentation right?

(It occurs to me that between writing news articles and keeping an eye on Era, I may be unable to actually process the announcements.)

Also, RIP @ BOTW 2 being 2022 if true. Hardly unexpected, but 2021 would still rule. I remember when folks used to say that, since this is a direct sequel, we shouldn't anticipate a five-year wait. But hey, this shows ambition!

Weird they'd announce this before the Switch Pro reveal stream. But I'm hoping for some BoTW2 and Bayo3 news.

I'm going to be too busy covering RPG-related announcements to notice...

...is what I would like to say, but I won't disable ResetEra report notifications. I'd feel terrible if I did. <_>

don't worry, maybe the forum will be down anyway from the fire and flames :D

I expect a Pokemon Arceus demo and just a trailer for DPR. Arceus needs more time to be explained

I don't know why anyone is shocked at BOTW2 being 2022. When was the last time we didn't have a 5 year gap in 3D zelda? TP?

it would be a perfect March or April 2022 title to celebrate the systems 5th anniversary and help keep sales up going into 2023, when a Switch 2 is likely to happen.

Hoping for Bayonetta 3 or Metroid Prime 4, but given how things have been I won't hold my breath that they'll be there. But will be tuning in to watch! :)

Let's go! Can't wait to see:

- Fp2 smash characters
- BOTW2 gameplay
- Switch pro
- Software with Pro enhanced resolution
- Animal crossing DLC
- Metroid Prime 4 trailer

As opposed to the last few E3s, I feel pretty confident I will see most of these over the next 2 weeks

Has a separate Pokémon direct sometimes popped up before E3?

Just remember guys

It says it will exclusively focus on Switch Software. They haven't used the phrase exclusively when talking about their focus before other than when it's a specific game's Direct. (I checked)

Don't go in expecting a hardware announcement within this presentation

I don't think anybody is expecting a hardware announcement in E3, it will be before that.

My tweet was interpreting Nintendo's wording as an implication that we would get the hardware reveal before E3. She ended up liking the tweet.
No, Laura is highlighting that the Direct will be software exclusive, lending credence to all the insiders saying the Switch Pro will be announced before June 15th Direct as the software shown there will highlight the new Switch console's power.
Ah thank you, sorry for transposing your abbreviated initials. Corrected.

Yes

In 2016, we had a Pokémon trailer drop of big stuff for Sun & Moon two weeks before
In 2017, we had a Pokémon Direct two weeks before which revealed Pokkén Tournament DX and Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon
In 2018, we had a Pokémon Press Conference two weeks before which revealed Pokémon Let's Go
In 2019, we had a Pokémon Press Conference two weeks before which revealed a lot of side stuff, and a Pokémon Direct one week before which focused on a lot of Pokémon Sword & Shield content.

The expectation is that it will happen before this presentation

It's strange. If you're going to announce new hardware BEFORE your E3 presentation, why would you need to specify that the E3 presentation is exclusively Switch software? Unless the hardware announcement is AFTER the E3 presentation, in which case they'd want people watching the presentation not to expect hardware.

Yup. It could be between now and June 14th. It'll be silly if it was announced on the same day as the Direct, in a separate announcement. My prediction is that it'll be announced via Twitter and press release, possibly with a trailer. Games media would then cover hands-on and specs of the new system.

Because the hardware hasn't been announced yet.

Crazy to think this is the same time frame for a new, top to bottom never before seen Zelda game/engine. You're right, it has to mean it's more ambitious than we originally thought.

Imagine a video where BotW2 is shown and in one scene the visuals transition into Switch PRO graphics.... 🤤🤤
