2021 is like too good to be true.
Your 2020 would be good but something would be missing. If Pokemon Snap made it into 2020 that'd make up for it.
Put Snap somewhere in 2020, throw a first-party surprise in there, and you have my best case scenario for 2020, going by what we know.
Toadstool Trilogy - I love it.
Nintendo never reuse title parts like that though, and Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour was already a thing so that title's out.
I'd put money on it being called Super Mario Anniversary, in keeping with Galaxy and Odyssey.
2021 is too good to be true. I'd say drop 2D Mario and maybe that's more likely.
I also don't really believe in this fabled Splatoon spinoff.
Is there any specific reason that several posters have BOTW 2 for March? It is reasonable to expect a sizable end-of-fiscal-year game, and BOTW 2 is the only such 2021 game that we have actually seen (apologies to Pokemon Snap), but I still think that August-October is the more likely timeframe for Zelda.
I think this will be the 2020 release schedule in the best scenario.
That there won't be a Direct soon because they would've announced Bakugan there... I don't really follow that logic, but whatever.
Ehh, I tried to keep 2021 as realistic as possible.
- There are two Pokemon games announced, and one heavily rumored. None are 2020 seemingly, so 2021 it is.
- Camelot (Mario Golf), Mercury Steam (Metroid V), Platinum (Bayonetta 3), and ND Cube (Super Mario Party 2) will be due for games around this time.
- EPD9 wouldn't have released an HD game in five years at this point, and they need to get a game out decently fast so they can start work on Mario Kart X for the Switch 2 (which I think is coming in 2024, so a normal three year development window is needed)
- There were job listings for a new 2D Mario game a while back, but this year is too early for it
- Breath of the Wild 2 makes sense as the yearly March title
- No 3D Mario game, as I think that the Toadstool Trilogy is their major project
That's when the first game came out, and there were rumors it was initially aiming for 2020.
Aah yes, the Bakugan megaton definitely needed to be saved for a Direct. Pretty sure this was a marketing decision so it didn't get mocked in a main Direct. Instead it got mocked now.
This post could be read so many different ways it physically pains me.
Way too many Mario games in two years. Nintendo aims to be more inclusive, more diverse lineup caters to everybody.

Ehh, it's too early for Strikers 3 IMO. Mario also always gets more than one game a year (3 is seemingly the usual, counting spin-offs and ports). And where are the rumored Pokemon remakes?

New Kirby game and Pikmin game announcement coming in the next direct.
Are the remakes actually rumored? I thought they were just speculated because it'd match past release patterns.
Nothing is rumored regarding any Pokémon remakes right now but I don't think Gamefreak would start and finish DP remakes with SwSh looks in just two years. Pokémon games are getting more and more demanding and COVID will make the development more time consuming than ever.
Pokkén 2 and Pikachu 2 should be great fillers for 2021.
Something that kind of annoys me with some leaks/rumors on here is how they're pretty vague, leading to a lot of speculation. It's why I appreciated Jeff Grubb just bluntly saying "I heard there was a Direct on March 26" earlier this year. Like, either you know something or you don't, no need to play these games with us...
Kelios was pretty straight-forward. He was also the first to talk about the Direct on March 26th.
Yeah, I am glad he gave us a date- I'm mainly talking about some others I've noticed. The King saying "maybe there is a direct soon" is treated like confirmation when it could have just been him speculating based on the GameStop listings.
I remember rumors for them. There was Diamond and Pearl merch put up for sale for no apparent reason a little while back. A lot of it is speculation though.

I have always found totally amusing how the 360 controller is an absolute standard in development environments.
I'm feeling pretty confident we'll be seeing NMH3 in its full glory next Direct
I mean, I get that the end of the day you are working with a PC, so Microsoft kinda reigns supreme there but the One controller is better in my opinion. Aren´t drivers the same?
Switch Pro is a better controller too in my opinion, but there would be compatibility issues maybe.
I don't think any insider knows all the upcoming announcements, but they know of the Direct. And I honestly don't want to know more, I want to be surprised.
Nah, Captain posts very little on here and normally clarifies when he's speculating.
They are sometimes vague, but we are often times too invested, so we probably deserve that.

That's par for the course. People expected Let's Go 2 because of the plushies behind Ishihara at the first Pokémon Presents.
The 2020 rumor dates to CT's post in January 2019, right? It seems optimistic to me that the internal timeline would only have 4-5 months of delays over two years, depending on how ambitious the game is.
Admittedly I was about as far away as can be from sober watching TFIL, but I hope the courses get more intense in future seasons.
