They just announced a collaboration with Panda Global for a big Melee and Ultimate tournament circuit.Nintendo is never, ever touching the pro scene. Especially, after all the sexual misconduct allegations.
LOL. It aint that deep for Nintendo. They are just terrible at capitalizing on something the scene really wants.I am not sure getting linked with even somewhat controversial influencers is something Nintendo would be remotely interested in. Especially considering the absolutely horrifying news that came out of the Smash community is just barely behind us. Not saying it makes sense but I understand.

The way that tournament series will be handled should give us a good idea of how Nintendo wants things run going forward. This is because of the still yet-to-be-announced officially licensed Panda tournament series. If you don't hear from them then wouldn't you just donate to the prize pool at any one of the dozens of other majors?
Given how large EVO is & how many sponsors it has, Nintendo has to sign off on their game(s) being included.
They need to sign off on it.

Do they sign off on Ludwig's Smash stuff? They need to sign off on it.

Evo, the long-running fighting game tournament has revealed that Super Smash Bros. will not be part of the 2022 event.www.videogameschronicle.com
That's not Evo and also Melee. Which Nintendo pretends doesn't exist.
I mean the pandemic happened, probably affected their plans.I stand corrected then. They ignored it completely for the last two years so I thought they abandoned it. Good on them.

EDIT: TIL about Panda Global.
No idea, but he's definitely at their mercy.
And how would he do it 'through EVO'? This makes no sense.
They literally announced they're putting together their own pro tour for Ultimate and Melee.

I don't think Sony is the main problem here, otherwise Nintendo wouldn't bother advertising MLB: The Show as hard as they are.Nintendo won't give anything to Sony, regardless who is the spokesperson, or how it's the end.
Didn't you guys live the 90-2000 years?
I imagine this goes hand in hand with having tight control over sponsors, marketing, announcers, and tournament admissions. Nintendo of all companies probably doesn't want to be milkshake duck'd.
Nintendo definitely confuse me with their attitude towards the pro scene. Especially when the scene fully embraces Smash as a whole, not just a competition. There are plenty of side events and fun dumb stuff in tournaments, even if they aren't always shown on screen, so Smash as a whole is still a great party game portrayal.
