This is because of the still yet-to-be-announced officially licensed Panda tournament series. If you don't hear from them then wouldn't you just donate to the prize pool at any one of the dozens of other majors?

Nintendo is never, ever touching the pro scene. Especially, after all the sexual misconduct allegations.

EDIT: TIL about Panda Global.

I am not sure getting linked with even somewhat controversial influencers is something Nintendo would be remotely interested in. Especially considering the absolutely horrifying news that came out of the Smash community is just barely behind us. Not saying it makes sense but I understand.

LOL. It aint that deep for Nintendo. They are just terrible at capitalizing on something the scene really wants.

The way that tournament series will be handled should give us a good idea of how Nintendo wants things run going forward.

"I tweeted it out".

Binding agreement right there to this disconnected guy. Ghosted.

Why would a casino channel want Ninja, Ludwig and XQC's teenage viewer base? Absolutely nothing nefarious going on with this.

I wonder how much the Papa John's sponsorship cost with BTS. That's covering close to half the majors this year. It couldn't have possibly been anywhere near that much.

I'm kinda glad Nintendo ghosted Ninja here, not sure about anyone else in this place but for some reason I just get douchey vibes from him, I think the reason Nintendo ghosted him because maybe they know something about him that we dont and was trying to avoid him, either way? I'm glad they passed on Ninja.

How would this work? Would it be exclusively for boys or would he actually manage to do the unthinkable and interect with a girl that isn't his wife?

Do they sign off on Ludwig's Smash stuff?
That's not Evo and also Melee. Which Nintendo pretends doesn't exist.

Nintendo would literally try and shutdown Evo.

edit: small reminder about Nintendo and Evo:

"Nintendo of America initially sent a cease and desist in order to cancel the event, however, the backlash was so significant, especially due to the fact that the event was raising money for charity, that the matches proceeded as planned."

I don't think it's ghosting if they don't respond to a tweet. He talks about his team trying to make it happen, but who knows how deep the talks went.

I really dislike his complaint that he constantly gets tweets about it. That's on him for tweeting it out before anything was put in place.

There a large part of me that think he's full of shit on this but then again it makes sense that Nintendo wouldn't want to fuck with him.

Oh this is much much older than I realized, I just assumed it was relatively recent. It all stems down to this tweet 3.5 years ago which never amounted to anything.

So the Evo in question was Evo 2019. It's hard to know what he actually intended to do and how he actually wanted to go about doing it. I'm not sure why he would need Nintendo's approval to donate to the prize pool unless he had specific stipulations around his branding or if Evo had specific requirements about their agreement with Nintendo which would have prevented that. At any rate he could have partnered with countless other major tournaments that were not affiliated with Nintendo

The Tallarico method!

What is said :
"I'm in contact with Nintendo for this total legit project!"

What was done :
A vague tweet with no mention of Nintendo or the project in question.

Maybe it's a mean thing to assume, but I feel that the idea that Ninja just tweeted out that he wants to collaborate with Nintendo and then felt so entitled that he believed that he was "ghosted" when he didn't get a response is pretty plausible.

Nintendo definitely confuse me with their attitude towards the pro scene. Especially when the scene fully embraces Smash as a whole, not just a competition. There are plenty of side events and fun dumb stuff in tournaments, even if they aren't always shown on screen, so Smash as a whole is still a great party game portrayal.

I imagine this goes hand in hand with having tight control over sponsors, marketing, announcers, and tournament admissions. Nintendo of all companies probably doesn't want to be milkshake duck'd.

Pretty much, with top players like Zero, Hungrybox, and others outing themselves as shitheads it'd be good for Nintendo to cultivate their own scene.

It's already the most successful fighting game series of all time, so it's not like Nintendo would have has much to gain.
