Bob McKenzie's explanation on twitter is because of the tag up rule, as long as Nischuskin clears the zone before the player has control of the puck, it's onside.

That might be the case but I've never seen this situation before.

Yes, Makar pushed the puck forward from outside of the zone and didn't touch it again until after Nichushkin had cleared the zone behind him.

Sportsnet are saying the refs said makar pushed the puck forward and therefore it wasn't on his stick until after the man got across the blue line again so it's ok lol.
