One more win for the Leafs, then Tampa has them right where they want them
It hurts how true this is.

If the Leafs go up 3-1, they're going to lose somehow. It's like the NHL's equivalent of Doc Rivers, minus the part where they won a championship in the past 20 years.

We can only hope the power of the Threepeat Curse is stronger than the Leafs ability to choke another 3-1 series. I want this team to get past the 1st round in my lifetime, ideally.

Darcy Kuemper took a stick inside of his goalie cage during a puck battle and left the game in a lot of pain.

So much goalie fuckery in the first round this year.

Couple things:

Preds absolutely just got fucked. That's insane it wasn't goal gender interference.

Is it a new rule or something that if you lose a challenge you give the other team a power play? I've never seen that and it's fucking insane. It's like oh you dare question the refs? Haha fuck you lose twice now.

Granlund pushed him into Ingram, and the penalty was added a few years ago when they realized that coaches were using challenges as extended timeouts

Maybe two seasons? Either way - if you win the challenge you don't get a penalty.

Any sane organization would clean house after this top-to-bottom embarrassment of a playoff series by the Preds, from the play on the ice to the empty seats in the stands. But Poile has a lifetime appointment to bumble around, so what can you do?

They introduced that a couple of years ago because teams were using the goal challenge as a free timeout.

So far in this game the Penguins power play has been sloppy as hell and yet they've scored both times.

EDIT: Oh dear, Shesterkin really taking the L in this one.

It's just that first unit. This happens when they try to get to cute with the passing.

The NHL advertising their social media accounts on-ice is so lame and tacky. It's not 2017, no one needs to be told you gave an Instagram account.

How NHL colour analysts still don't know how interference works baffles me. Like McIndoe has said for years, 90% of goalie interference boils down to if the contact is outside the blue paint or not.

Catching up on some highlights.

That first Flames goal was a travesty, in no way should have counted, and I'm glad they lost in spite of that because if they won by a goal that would be some bullshit.

"We put up a fight against the best team in the West despite missing our starting goaltender. We believe that this core can win a Stanley Cup and we will do everything we can this offseason to make that happen."

Forsberg gets 9.5x8 and they continue to be an average team.

Does make me laugh a bit that Calgary and Florida, two teams that national press kept saying over and over were favorites to get to their respective conference finals (if not more) both not only look bad, but outright outclassed by their opponents.

Giroux deserves better, smh

He'll bill it as part of his "competitive rebuild", despite the fact that any retooling/rebuilding team worth a shit:
-Would have traded Forsberg at the TDL
-Would NOT have wasted a 2nd on below-replacement-level Jeremy Lauzon

I don't know if there is a more incompetent team that manages to be in the playoffs almost every year. Proof that elite goaltending goes a long way, I guess.

Leafs know they can't win if they go up 3-1 so they're losing tonight to secure a 6 game win.

405D chess.
