jesus, this is a megaton.

edit: to be clear, this seemingly implies that a replacement joystick part has been or is being sourced

No

That's the Lite Devkit.

But Nintendo of Europe told us there wasn't a problem with Joycon drift.

Dear Customers who bought a launch unit,

Get fucked.

-Sincerely Nintendo

Hopefully while they're fixing the analog sticks they also fix their broken dpads on the Lite and the Switch Pro controllers

Why would a different Joy-Con analog stick casing/contact need a new FCC filing? It thought it needed to be something more substantial than that. I suspect this is totally unrelated to that issue.

It's not entirely clear what's new or different with the updated model of the Switch Lite. We've combed through the documents submitted to the FCC, but most are the same as the previous version.

So basically it's not clear if this has anything to do with JoyCon drift. Clickbait headline.

The article doesn't say anything and they don't know anything outside of a model number change.

This should end the topics we have every other week about whether the joycon drift problem is being overblown or not.

Should have been dealt with before the Lite was pushed out. At least it is being addressed now hopefully. Edit: Oh it's not even known if the new model is for the drift issue, just that a new model has been filed.

Ah damn it, can a mod change the title or perhaps close it since I misunderstood?

To be fair, the link doesn't mention at all that this new model is specifically to address a prevalence in Switch lite joycon drift: that is pure speculation.

However, if that is true, and switch lite joycon drift is frequent and prevalent, this is now at the extent of the whole RRoD (and maybe even surpasses it). We'll probably call this "Driftgate" in the future.
