I imagine there will be some new cutscenes you can only see on a new playthrough (or a NG+ run), while the databosses and postgame chapter will be accessible on a normal clear file.

Yeah, there were some new story fights and some obvious data battles. Data Larxene had some new moves, as did Data Xemnas.
You've just described every Final Mix version of a Kingdom Hearts game, so yeah.
Like others said, it feels like this is the "We're listening" DLC that addresses most of the main criticisms. And playable Kairi really makes this ace.
Kinda feel like I should have just skipped vanilla KHIII, especially with all of the problems I had with it.
After watching enough gameplay I still dread picking up the game and going to worlds like Tangled which don't interest me at all. But if they let me have a Final Fantasy character to tag along with like Leon, Cloud or Auron I'd change my tune so damn fast it's not even funny.

I mean, I remember people were PISSED there was no FF characters, and that was typically not held over for Final Mix stuff. Yet here they is.

Wow, that looks a lot more like a Final Mix than I thought. I hope they release the whole package physically since I traded my copy in already.
A deal with Sony is a real possibility assuming they didn't just prioritize the PS4 version.
I guess? But then I'm left repeating the question. Why? People who care about this already have the base game. No one who bought it on Xbox will buy the PS4 version as well just to get the DLC a month earlier.

Pretty much. I remember Vanilla KH2 being my most disliked game in the series and vastly preferring KH1. FM+ fixed a lot of my issues with it and made me enjoyed it far more than KH1.
Looking forward to Remind.
