Valis 4 is the worst in the series. Surprising to say the least about it being put on the service considering in Japan this series transformed into hentai/porn

Awesome, DKC 3. Getting closer to having the definitive SNES lineup other than some major rpgs and a couple others missing. Never heard of the other 4 games but I'm digging the Nightshade music.

On one hand, I think it's cool that they keep giving us some more niche and obscure games.

On the other hand, where the fuck are Earthbound and Super Mario RPG???

I'm actually surprised by Valis, when telenet died, the rigths of the game was bought by a eroge company, and looking the credits something called edia has the right now

Japan gets a few different ones:

...which, as usual, you can access for free by downloading from the JPN eShop and loading with other regions' eShop accounts. I don't know the three games that are unique to the JPN selection, but one's clearly a Super Dodge Ball sequel, one is a wacky Sunsoft game, and one is Smash Table Tennis for the Famicom Disk System, co-produced by Nintendo and Konami.

Honestly, I've wanted to play The Ignition Factor for a long time, so it'll be nice to give it a shot. Also, Valis deserved so much better. I'd love to see remakes of the first three Valis games with good voice acting.

Wow, I'm not the only Valis fan around!!!

As a big Valis 3 fan, I remember being a bit disappointed by Valis 4 on the Snes, but I'm so glad to see Valis on Switch that I'll replay 4 and I'm sure I'll love it this time... Even if I have to force myself to love it! ^_^

Glad to see the DKC trilogy rounded out. Super curious as to what people new to DKC3 think about it in 2020.

I don't think any of the DKC games are bad (far from it!) but DKC3 is clearly inferior to the other games in a lot of ways imo.

Yeah the pce ver of valis iv is very bland but the snes one streamlines it into a better game and has a GODLY SOUNDTRACK. Never in a million years would I expect a rerelease. Wonder if the nes one could come to JP NSO... (though that is horrible, I still wanna have it for the sound test)

and thankfully a mobile company named edia bought it for licensing reasons, so valis isn't in the creepy hentai scene anymore. Seems to be back to the roots and just the OG games up to IV. Antstream got the rights to I/III for genesis along with some other genesis titles so more could be possible if telenet released anything else on snes or nes

DKC 3 screams christmas to me so this is rad. Have vivid memories of getting it for christmas, that damn snow man boss, they did some weirdo shit with the game and got out of control but its amazing.

Dkc3 is so freaking brutal. I finally beat it this year via retroarch with my dumped cart and a rewind freature but it was still tough as nails at parts.

Donkey kong land 3 was less brutal.

Lol at this point, we're gonna have all Jaleco library on NSO. What's left? Brawl Brothers?

Nevertheless, they're excellent clones, made my childhood much better being so cheap.

This feels like when your dad wanted to look cool to you so he went to the rental store and got a bunch of random cartridges having no idea of what he was doing. "Here son, you like video games right? The guy at the store said these were good"

Ignition Factor is a game I've heard about and wanted to play for a while. Excited to finally try it.

Also curious as to what that Hebereke SNES game in the Japanese version is. Hebereke on the NES is a real good game, one of Sunsoft's best...

Move over hillbilly shmup boxart because the one true weirdest SNES boxart is on the Switch

snes_tuff_e_nuff_p_x0i084.jpg

The Neanderthal appearance.

The lack of pupils.

The dribble coming out between the unsegmented teeth.

Yep this is some 90s comic book artsyle.

Man, Super Valis IV opened up some weird ancestral memory of a really similar SNES action platformer that I can't remember at all. Like, some sort of female protagonist in armor, jumping through a castle... I could never beat the first level, and it was a hand-me-down with a logo in a hard-to-read font, so I never knew what it was called. Something with an X or a Z or something.

That's gonna bother me all night.

Huh, Nightshade. That game that I only know exists because of JonTron.

DKC3 is a good time, heard some good things about Ignition Factor including a PS1 sequel only in Japan (& Europe?), and I remember reading about the Valis series on HG101 and how it basically turned into hentai.

After replaying them on Wii U a few years back, I think I give DKC3 a slight edge over the original. Not as good as DKC2, of course.

DKC1 is still a fantastic game but out of the three, it's the one that feels like it has "aged" the most. DKC2 is the perfect package (level design, world themes, music, the addition of Dixie's "glide" ability) and while there are a couple things I don't like about DKC3 (it's the easiest of the trilogy and Kiddy Kong sucks), I really loved what they did with the world map by adding vehicles and making it more interactable. And it has a couple of my favorite level themes with the saw mill and mountain tops.
