It seems some people who preordered the physical version of the game on SE NA store were accidentally sent a download code for the full game. Based on Twitter reports it was still possible to receive a code a few minutes ago.
So beware of spoilers or rush to the SE store.

You get an email saying you preordered it but it also comes with something that allows you to click on and get a digital product activation. It's obviously a mistake.

Not typically. Think it depends on the seller going through the effort. I think they'd "maybe" convert them to regular codes if that's even possible.

While not switch, I've heard of cases like this where a open game becomes locked and then opens back up at release.

Ultimately, I'm glad it's switch only cause I know I would have bit and spent more money if it was the PS4 version. Next ten days are gonna be rough ;-;
