Interesting: the Club for Growth goes up with a negative ad in Iowa directly attacking @BernieSanders, both on health care and his age.

Iowa ad transcript said:
Sanders wants to be our 46th president but he's nothing like the rest.

More radical than Obama on healthcare.

[LIBERAL
HEALTHCARE
POLICIES]

Bernie's plan gives government health insurance to everyone.

[BERNIE'S PLAN:
MEDICARE FOR ALL]

His socialist Green New Deal even bigger than the New Deal transforming the economy to meet extreme environmental standards

(BERNIE'S GREEN NEW DEAL:
$16.3 TRILLION FOR
CLIMATE CHANGE)

and at 79 he'd be our oldest president ever. Even his age is extreme.

[79
YEARS
OLD AT
INAUGURATION]

Too old.
Too liberal.

[TOO OLD.
TOO LIBERAL.]

Some people think this ad is meant to help Sanders.

I speak with authority ... this ad is meant to help Bernie. Not hurt him. https://twitter.com/jmartnyt/status/1221801819313143813

The @clairecmc-style jujitsu play is clear enough. But the @club4growth may not know how much they're going to please @BernieSanders by linking him to @FDRLibrary https://twitter.com/nytnickc/status/1221797847743582219?s=21

Do you think this ad is meant to be negative?

Edit: Added poll and the Claire McCaskill tweet a few minutes after creating the thread so the first replies did not see the Claire McCaskill tweet.

Imagine the horror of everyone having healthcare. Even the poors? C'mon now, be realistic.

So the New Deal, the thing that helped get America out of the Great Depression, in actual fighting shape for WWII, and an economic powerhouse thereafter, is now a bad thing?

This reminds me of the time that I somehow got an ad for Marco Rubio when he was running for president and everything about his platform was bat shit crazy in my eyes that without knowing who it was I thought it may have been a joke...

Pro-gun, anti-environment, anti health-care.

The New Deal is probably the last time someone invested in small town Iowa infrastructure

If THAT is a negative ad, then somebody is about to be fired. These fuckers are absolutely desperate to find some asinine way to smear Bernie.

Its not an attack add. Its a conservative group trying to support Sanders because they think he'll lose to Trump. And given the responses in this thread its working as intended.
Oh no! They got me!

Remember Trump is so scared of Sanders that he violated multiple laws and froze aid to Ukraine to derail his campaign.
Never mind, that was Joe Biden, so it don't counts.

Meant to hurt, may even hurt (at least the the 'radical policy' part), but if I saw that in an ad, I'd be shouting 'hell yeah!' all the way.

As someone with Warren as his number one choice, where can she find these types of enemies? Lol Bernie is about to sweep if these are his negative ads.

The "too old, too liberal" and "extreme environmental standards" line doesn't really show that they're supporting him, as well as the tone of the narrator. It's an attack ad. With your second point, do you mean this is meant to persuade Biden/Warren voters to vote Sanders? I doubt this ad causes that much of a swing in any direction, just reinforcing beliefs.

It depends on your perspective as to whether or not this makes him look bad.

Are you a selfish person who hates the idea of the greater wealth being fairly distributed for the health of all?

Or

Do you like his ideas?

Its knowingly positive, no one has ever tried to compare someone to FDR as a negative

Uhhhhhhhhh these all sound great to me? I don't think this is going to have the negative effect the people that made these adds are hoping for.
