i only pay for one and it's plenty for me

theres no way I could ever watch enough of anything on each and every one of those services each month to justify all those costs

I only watch like one show on most networks, if that. There is absolutely no value in paying for a subscription service that only covers one network.

Aggregate services like Netflix and Hulu are different because of content diversity, but, like...NBC? ABC? CBS? Why the hell would I pay to have access to their shows when I only watch ONE show on each of those channels, if I even watch anything at all?

I've kept it capped at two. Disney+ will pretty much be subbed to in perpetuity, especially since I did the three year bundle. I already bounce between Netflix and Hulu but that's very likely looking to be replaced with Peacock. Though I'll likely just use my mom's cable sub to access it so that one might not have a cost. Point being, I'm with you in can't see having a ton of these all at once.

And this is why I've been waiting for a sale on the digital sets of 30 Rock and Parks and Rec. I love them too much to not have access to them and this doesn't seem like something I'd keep year round. Come on, VUDU, mark that shit down.

Yeah, my gf and I have a Netflix during the summer, Hulu the rest of the year cycle going but this could throw a big wrench in that.

If I'm honest, I'll probably cancel Hulu and get Peacock when it comes out.

CBS All Access - Don't care except for Star Trek shows. I just get a month of it in a year and binge the Star Trek I want (or wait until I visit overseas where it magically appears in Netflix for my stay). The only value I'd get out of a sub would be Price is Right access. Not enough to tempt me to keep the meter rolling.

Hulu - Basically becoming the ABC and FOX streaming network. The only shows my family watches from ABC and FOX are the Masterchefs. Once NBC shows jump ship, Masterchef isn't going to be enough to get me to stay. King of the Hill binging will be the biggest loss for me.

Peacock - Superstore, SNL, and Governor Zack Morris. If the price is competitive, I'll probably spring for it. Or at least I'm more likely to get this than keep Hulu.

I'd rather everybody have their own streaming service than have a cable subscription.

It's only costly if you have more than one or two at a time, which there's no reason too. When you're caught up on your Netflix and Hulu shows drop them for HBO and Peacock or whatever. It literally takes seconds.

So can I get the cheapest basic cable (ABC/Fox/CBS/NBC) from Comcast and get this with it? I probably still won't because fuck cable, but curious if it works that way.

Also I'm a not by choice Comcast subscriber right now technically. I pay for internet only. Do I get this for free then, being a Comcast internet subscriber?

Right, but there is no reason to subscribe to any one service over another if all they have is one network's shows. It's cable but worse.

More options is cool. But for me it's Disney+ and Netflix. If Hulu and WB make a streaming service in Canada then I'll cut Netflix.

It's absolutely not worse for me. If I want to watch new Star Trek it's $10 a month for three months. GoT and Westworld is $15 a month for two months a year. If I want to watch that alt history space race show on Apple it's $5 a month for two months a year. All the while I can Binge King of the Hill on Hulu for like $10 a month.

I never spend more than $30 a month and I get to watch everything. It's only a problem if you have to see every single show the moment it comes out.

I thought Disney owned NBC.

Why the hell they can't they just make one mega sub?

Especially since this shit won't be available in Canada of course.

edit: Nevermind, its ABC.

That's where I'm at with this stuff. If you make the effort to rotate services you can really save with streaming.
I pay for YoutubeTV during the NBA season only and then I split the cost with a buddy who does the same. There's no way we could have done that with cable

Hulu - At this point the only thing it looks like it will have is The Orville, Always Sunny, and some cooking shows we watch. Not looking great there. But Always Sunny takes so long to come to it I lose interest.

Peacock - Brooklyn 99, SNL, Psych, and I'm sure my fiance will want to check out Saved by the Bell.

2012-2019 will be the golden era of tv watching. soon it'll be a mess when every channel and company has their own streaming service.

can't wait until they start to bundle the subscription.

Taking all my favorite shows off my prefered streaming service just means I'm going to boycott yours.

UK
Great line up, especially movies.
If they all have their own service and make the movies exclusive then the primes and Netflix may take a hit.
But since this isn't in the UK it won't effect me I guess.

some of these services are doing week by week episode debuts, you can't watch them live without signing up for all at once.

I guess I'll get this free as a Comcast subscriber so that's something...

Super confusing with comcast pushing it's "Xfinity Stream" thing which also offers a Hulu-like VOD experience and now this...

This is free for me and NBCUniversal has arguably my favorite catalog of film and TV outside of WarnerMedia, so I'm all in.

I love the idea of a Saved By the Bell reboot with Zach as governor, but he is getting #metoo'd and cancelled for all the terrible shit he did as a kid. Screech was so damaged that he turned to sex work and starring in pornography, Zach's wife Kelly was traumatized by years of mental abuse and coercion, Slater washes cars, Lisa is the California AG with an eye on the presidency (if she can get past Zach's machinations) and Jessie is in prison for murdering a man in Vegas.

I'm well aware, which is why I'm usually subbed to them for two or three months while the shows I care about watching "live" are debuting. By the time I switch there's usually some second tier shows, that I like but don't need to see day one, built up on other services.

If somehow there are shows your dying to see immediately each week on six different services at the same time of year I guess that's unfortunate, but that seems extremely unlikely.

That's right, Orville is a Hulu exclusive next season, right? I'll have to stick around at least for that. Or binge a month down the road when the whole season is out.

That's assuming that people are like you and watch shows from a variety of networks. Most of the live action shows my wife & I watch and rewatch are NBC. Grab Disney+ for the kids (and cause Disney owns everything) and then all we need is a way to watch Asian dramas and we're 95% set for stuff that we'd want to watch. The remaining 5% or whatever can just be bought or (in the case of movies) rent.

So B99, SNL, P&R and 30 Rock are still gonna be on Hulu till 2024 so not everything is moving in a snap, plus this has a free model but with ads...for now.

Hmmmmmmmmm...

This is what I don't get about people getting a streaming service just for one or two shows (The Office, Seinfeld etc.). Just buy the complete DVD set, they're dirt cheap nowadays. Taking a disc out of a box is not that big of a hassle.
