I wonder if NBA would ever consider possibly streaming live games on Twitch. I honestly think there's a lot of money to be had there. NBA league pass is such shit. Turn off ads for subs, special emotes, tags etc.

also pleasantly surprised that they cut out all the commercials and I haven't seen any new ads in its place yet

They would need a media contract like the NFL. Amazon paid a pretty penny for the Thursday night games.

The chat element in illegal/twitch streams makes it feel more like an EVO event, which can greatly benefit even games that otherwise would be complete borefests. The classical format of sports broadcasting is outdated.

My totally not biased prediction:

MVP: Anthony Davis
MIP: Talen Horton-Tucker
Sixth Man: Montrez Harrell
Coach of the Year: Frank Vogel
Too bad we don't have a rookie this year.

ROTY: Deni Avdija

Seems like a reason to trade Tobias Harris more then anything else.

I think you can mitigate that via coaching and switching. Simmons and Harris are both combo forwards so when Embiid is in the game and one of them has to play the 3 they can have Harris as the 3 offensively as a spot shooter and Simmons as the 3 defensively.

The bigger issue is not having a 1st-3rd level option guard who can create their own shot. Curry/Green/everyone else doesn't really work as a starting level PG/offensive initiator and until the Sixers get one they will be incomplete.

If they are really lucky it might be Maxey but I think they will look to make a trade at the deadline for an upgrade at guard.

maybe something like Curry and Green to Utah for Clonley

I see no reason for the Jazz to want that trade but hey stranger things have happened.

If they were real, they would have given us a 2001 Celtics game with Tommy on the mic.

Watching the Pistol Pete debut game. I gotta say, the pace of 70s basketball was something else. It feels like 6 seconds or less offense.

I wonder how the 90s and early to late 2000s slowed down the game so much?

I'm so ready

Do KD and kyrie fucking hate each other? Or will they win a championship this year, guaranteed?

All will be known by the end of the 1st quarter.

YA GOTTA LOVE IT
First quarter? Why are you taking so long?

I am going to declare the Nets the greatest team of all time after they take a 6-2 lead and the Lakers to be overrated bums when LeBron comes out slow and the Clippers take an early lead.

I think when it's time to negotiate the next media deal we'll see Twitch get 1 or 2 games a week (through Amazon). It just makes too much sense, especially when they were able to get NFL games (much more value per game since there are so few of them relative to the other big US leagues)

I see no reason for the Jazz to want that trade but hey stranger things have happened.

Mitchel is really their PG. Green is a bigger defender who can better defend wings while providing shooting while Curry is a backup PG who's an elite shooter who can replace most of what Clonley would produce on a 3 year team friendly deal.

both teams get a small win doesn't move the needle much for either but good enough

As someone who wants to get back into watching the NBA, is Live TV ($60) the best option? I don't have cable, so I won't be able to watch Portland play, but I'm a transplant so it doesn't matter anyways.

I think Durant is on a mission to prove that he's the best player on the planet. Something the Lebron stans in the press wouldn't give him. Even though his team swept Lebron and he put 43 up in the biggest game.
Now, how could he be the best player on the planet when according to Warriors fans he was the 2nd best player on his own team?

Once the games start I was thinking I'd take a shot for every time someone says "washed" in this thread. Then realized I still wanted to be conscious for the 2nd quarter.

Coby White - Finals MVP

Not going to even make the playoffs
Lauri AKA "The finnish Larry Legend" will dominate the paint alongside Wendell "Big Dick" Carter Jr.
Coby White tho will be in full Steph Curry 3.0 mode, he will be so good he will skip Steph Curry 2.0. He'll enter us in Valhalla.

I'm just glad we have a real coach for once. Hope Carter Jr. and Coby keep developing, I think they have tons of potential

Does anyone actually think KD was a better player than LeBron?

If you argued that Warriors team in their 2nd year is one of the best teams of all time I would agree but KD got to play 1 on 1 with that team. Thats a luxury the best player in the world pretty much never gets. The game is too easy for great offensive player if they get guarded like that and with the Warriors talent that was real the only thing you could do.

I expect the Warriors to be blown out tonight and against the Bucks. The team will need a few weeks to get to know how to play together

Shooting ability is the only thing that I give advantage to KD over LeBron.

It's really up to how you want to define "better." Ultimately I would lean toward LeBron, because he's probably the greatest playmaker in the history of basketball - but Kevin Durant might be the greatest scorer. He scales ridiculously well with volume, and his pure scoring threat makes life easier for is teammates. LeBron can always get his own bucket, but its his basketball IQ and passing which set him apart.

Ultimately I think it's splitting hairs because you'll never be able to assess them in a vacuum, but it is fun to think about.
