Yet she's not trying to whip votes towards impeachment and has in fact derided those who disagree with her and made statements making impeachment come off like a pipe dream. It's almost as if your point works for you when you want, and yet you ignore it when it points out her obvious weakness in controlling the Democrats (the majority of whom at this time support impeachment).
I don't understand why some prolific progressive freshman rep doesn't form a movement around this.

I'm just being super optimist here, but could Pelosi's reluctance simply have the purpose of timing the momentum of impeachment closer to reelection so it's more potent and fresher in voter's minds?
think it's moreso that she was weighing the opinions of all the Dems in swing districts pretty strongly (and came out more forcefully against the hearings than was merited, but I digress)
and now those same swing Dems are starting to come out in favor after, uh, [gestures wildly at the past weekend] so that consideration is no longer there
e: like, Spanberger and Sherrill in particular signing onto this is genuinely huge
Moderate Democrats and swing state Dems are flipping to support impeachment and Pelosi is in talks. We will know more tomorrow but this is definitely more development on impeachment than usual.
An impeachment investigation/inquiry was already in process but it didn't have the pizazz or momentum that Nadler and certain Dems were hoping (especially with Pelosi undermining them virtually every step of the way). With Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats finally united on a single front, it's going to move things along at a quicker pace.
It has really always been about airing Trumps dirty laundry near the election cycle so that Democrats could get a commanding win in 2020. This Ukrainegate may have accelerated their timeline.
Her rivals have nobody to replace her with. This is a massive reason why Pelosi is where she is and why people are prone to finger wagging on the internet rather than gearing up a real candidate to challenge her in congress.
She's done everything in her power to try and talk people out of impeachment. If she flips tomorrow, she doesn't get a pat on the back for doing her fucking job after kicking and screaming the whole way.
Two problems with that. You have to make her, and who are you replacing her with? Or we're going to end up someone like Seth Moulton or Steny Hoyer who make Pelosi look like AOC.

Nancy may be very flawed but she's not that corrupt. She'd hold that vote.

For all we know, she could be trying to convince her caucus to hold the line and *not* publicly push it.
Just because she's gauging where her party is at doesn't mean she's actively pushing it.
