If I don't see Morpheus simping for Neo, something went wrong during this movie's production. The ending of Matrix 3 sucked for Morpheus.

That title evokes the stench of the trilogy sequels. I hope this is good but the last good thing from the wachowskis was speed racer.

Based on the Instagram post, sounds like James McTeigue (director of V for Vendetta and frequent Wachowski's collaborator) could possibly get a co-director credit on the film.

I'm in, with low expectations. The Matrix is still the series that defined the Y2K era for me. At least they were always visually and narratively ambitious; a Matrix movie was a promise you'd see the camera do something you hadn't seen before.

I have low hopes for this. The first movie was absolutely fantastic and stands alone for me - the sequels can be discarded at no loss. The sequels stank of "We have a success on our hands, let's milk it". They feel like leftovers of all the great ideas used in the first movie and never ever come remotely close to being as good.

Most people forget that the Wachowki's were really into cross medium story telling way before anyone else was like with the MCU. Some people kind of remember this with the Animatrix and Enter the Matrix the anime shorts that took place before Matrix Reloaded and Enter the Matrix taking place around Reloaded and leading into Revolutions.

Then the Matrix online happened and eventually ended. Guess who dies during that?

This film is called Resurrection tho.

I clicked on the thread thinking "I bet it's called Matrix Resurrection".

Cue me laughing out loud reading the title
Same lol, tho I missed the s in resurrections.
Prob because there's already another 4th film from a different franchise with that in the title...Crossing fingers this doesn't turn out like that one.

I like it, expected Reboot but maybe it was too on the nose or confusing to name a sequel with that subtitle.

There are no sequels to The Matrix, but those animated side stories were absolute fire!

The Matrix and The Animatrix are all you ever need, and I bet this will be awful and entirely forgettable too.

I'd have literally bet $20 it'd be that (though without the S). It's been my head canon title for months.

so on the nose.

Oh yeah, it's only her. I think she had a falling out with her sister... I do hope she nails it... Their last movies haven't been exactly successes...
Nah no falling out, Lily just wants to do her own thing, stepping back from filmmaking, and gave 100% support to Lana going at the Matrix 4.

A very unsubstantiated thing I heard was that Lana was the powerhouse of the directing duo. Nothing to back this up except something some dude on another site said, and I don't want to diminish Lily's contribution neither.

...seriously? That almost entirely kills my interest.

Lawrence Fishburn and Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) are both not gonna be in it, Smith's part is pretty weird he was originally cast in it and agreed to play the part but Lana apparently cut him out before production started because she was concerned that he wouldn't be available enough due to his theater committments. I hope the movie is good or at least better than the last two, but all the little signs point to a trainwreck.

well...I guess I need to rewatch the movies again to prep for this. Don't remember much of what happened after the first one

It's fine, but it does make the film out of order of subtitle name, which is a shame.

I'm always surprised WB didn't try to make The Second Renaissance into a set of films after Revelations, I would have totally been up for a live action version of all that chaos and the downfall of mankind. It also really paints the picture that mankind did this to themselves, the machines were never really the bad guy in this and could have easily wiped humanity out by now if they wanted to.
