For generations, sheperds in the mountains of corsica, a french island in the Mediterranean sea, talked about a big wild cat looking like a fox for its colors. Scientists can now confirm it real and no its not cats who reproduced with fox but more of a isolated species that came on the island about 6500 years ago apparently from the middle east and evolved in isolation high in the mountains forests far from men and up to 2500m. Deep dna analysis are in progress to find its closest cat relatives and origins. Article only in french

Why would a cat and a fox be even considered compatible? They're not even in the same family of species (feline vs. canine).
