...in English please!

giphy.gif

Ever since I read translations of several "high-profile" mangas here in Yurop, I have felt like it could be fun to play some yaoi VN. Now, why would I play one of these since most man-on-man games are notorious for their dubious quality? Well, that's when ERA comes to help. Please guide me to the true path of the yaoi connaisseur!

And by the way, I know that there are some Yuri games on Switch. I don't know about the quality of those, but if you have some solid recommendations, I'd gladly have a look at them too. Also, one remark. The game must be short (no more than 10 hours). I already received (unrelated) game several recommandations in a former thread and my schedule is packed. Thanks for your help!

Capcom is releasing Resident Evil 6 later this year.

Chris' campaign sounds perfect for you.

Uh.....I feel as though I don't understand something. You say boy on boy in your OP,..... surely you're not talking about some type of genre that has tendencies toward pedophilia are you?

Get a tablet/netbook, with Ninty's stance on stuff like that that's mission impossible.

Switch seems like the wrong platform for this.

Because he used the word "boy"? C'mon. Like straight guys don't say "girls" all the time. C'mon.

Thanks for the replies. So I was looking at the wrong place.

And to make it clear, yaoi stuff has no connection to pedophile stuff. Yes, it can feature such things if you look hard enough for it, but it is first and foremost a genre that you consume to live vicariously through the characters. Especially if you're straight (in my opinion).

The list of "yaoi" games on Switch is very limited, there is Dream Daddy which got ported this summer, Long Story since you chose your protagonist gender and there is both male and female character you can date, Omega Vampire has been ported on Switch but it's only in Japan and in Japanese...

Outside of visual novel there is game like Stardew Valley and My Time at Portia with male * male possible romance.

If other people know other game I would be quite interested as well.

Doesn't Yaoi in games specifically implies a porn element to it as opposed to just generally asking about gay-centered VNs?

Um....I don't. I say women, and I'm married so I don't hang around younger folks who speak in that manner, so I tend to take things at face value. I very literally don't know, such is why I asked. I don't know what the genre is that the OP is looking for, but he mentioned "boy on boy" in those exact words, how else am I supposed to take it?

I mean it doesn't matter if you don't, the use of boy or boys or to refer to men or girl or girls to women is still very common.

yaoi = gay relationships
yuri = lesbian relationships

This is seriously your first thought?
I wasn't trying to offend, and I apologize if I misinterpreted. I looked up the genre yaoi, and it seems it has nothing to necessarily do with underage characters, just males in general. Sorry for misunderstanding, but it was phrased in such a way that it seemed like erotic underage literature, which I think is understandable to be disturbed by. Just a misunderstanding.

It may very well be for you, but I am certainly not lying here either. I have not heard an adult male or female referred to as a boy or girl rather than man or woman.....well, ever actually. I'm not being disingenuous, I simply haven't ever heard that. Boy has always, at least around me, been utilized to refer to young males, where as man has been utilized to refer to adult males. Again, I'm sorry for misinterpreting.

To clarify once and for all, I did use 'boy' as a substitue to 'man'. A lot of people do. Though I tend to agree that you stop calling a man 'boy' after around 25. I'd never call a forty-something year old 'boy'. So you are kind of right. I edited the OP.

I mean shonen ai literary means boy love.
Yes. But as I explained: it is romance with no adult scenes. While Yaoi is exactly that.
Another subgenre would be bara, that is explicit boys love with quite "manly" characters. It is made by men for men, while yaoi (and shonen ai) is usually made by women for women. (Generally speaking.)

On the other hand, for girls love there was only Yuri. Shoujo Ai was invented revered to the difference made in the boys love section. But to this day it is hard to find "porn Yuri stuff", because you mostly end up with harmless Shoujo Ai that is just labeled as Yuri. Kinda reversed to the situation regarding boys love.

Thanks for understanding, and again, I really apologize for misinterpreting. I hope you find what you're looking for :D.

I rarely use man in common talk because it holds negative connotations for me.

Boy is a catch-all

The more you know about yaoi the more you'll know how to make attractive men!
Please never write a gay character if youre basing it off yaoi writing

Not yet. There are some junky ones, but nothing like the volume of good stuff the Vita had. Hopefully those ports + localizations start happening soon.

You sure do fling "pedophile" on a hair trigger. Like, a large percentage of your post history.

Dream Daddy is your only MLM option I've seen on Switch, but another user mentioned LongStory, which I havent't played myself however - it's rated Teen though.

You have much better options on PC, actually mangagamer just announced this really good looking game, coming out next week:

Personally, I assume you mean Boy's Love (implying graphic sexual depictions) when someone uses the word "Yaoi", otherwise yes, I assume you'd use Shonen Ai if you're looking for more pure, less graphic depictions (play RisAmo, it's free).
