The way the lootbox shakes as its opening. The cacophony of sound. The flashy light effects. The impact of a Legendary pull.

Whew. They got me.

Whoever realized that players could be so easily manipulated by casino mechanics is frankly a genius. An evil genius, but a genius nonetheless. The concept integrates so well with modern service games. My lizard brain gobbles that shit up. Yes, I'm part of the problem.

Excuse me, I have just a couple levels until my next Apex Pack.

I find it frustratingly slow. All those effects and animations. Revealing items one by one. Just show me what I got and let me open the next one.

I love lootboxes, too, when I think about them. But after a night of grinding XP to get a few pulls, I realize they weren't as fun as I thought they were. Even when I pull something good. But somehow, after a while, I get the urge to open them again.

I'm very happy that I don't seem to be susceptible to any of the flashy stuff and in fact am turned off by it. When I got back from my first mission on Vermintide I was like "fucking really?" when I saw all the animations for it.

I thank whatever gods are out there everyday for making me feel nothing but boredom during these animations. Seriously, they got on too long, are unskippable most of the time and I hate how they have to be opened one at a time.

I'm honestly not sure I've ever even played anything with lootboxes except, somewhat ironically, a bit of Star Wars Battlefront II.

I...don't think lootboxes factor into anything I play. I'd say I'm lucky but I doubt they'd do much for me anyway.

Battlefront 2 lootboxes are the worst. All that hullabaloo for the same 500 credits every time.

Of what I played only Rainbow Six is unironically dogshit at this, opening lootcrates is like opening a letter you know is going to be about your debts

Yeah same, I feel like outside Borderlands the whole loot box thing never did much for me, or loot based games in general. I missed out on the Diablo 2 craze due to not really caring about the loop for loot. First game grabbed me cause there was nothing else like it before, and overall atmosphere was better than the sequel imo.

BL3 will grab me again though, at least for its coop.

I think part of me does. But the I'll feeling of knowing how the industry changed over time, the minipulation factors and design goal changes to accommodate that kind of consumer I think really killed the buzz a bit. To where I'm more apathetic thank anything.

Shit, I love cosmetic lootboxes. Love opening them. I know I'm in the minority and it's an unpopular opinion, but there's certain games that I wish had them but don't. I'd probably play a lot more Fortnite if it had lootboxes. I want all that cool shit I see!

Oh totally the battle pass is absolute crap outside the havoc which is one of my least favorite weapons. But the rewards outside legendary are largely boring. And the low/mid tier stuff is just boring as hell. Even when you get crafting materials (I'm 78) are just abhorrent. I have 560. Not even halfway to the Blackheart skin I want.

Thankfully I don't get that dopamine hit when opening the loot box. In fact, i try to fast forward through the whole animation to save time. More game time = more fun
