I thought the Multiverse angle was the perfect excuse to recast Black Panther as Michael B. Jordan. As in killmonger was Black Panther in another verse.
"Listen W'kabi, I know you tried to overthrow the last king with the help of his omnicidal cousin and had a huge knock-down drag-out with your wife in public with rhinos, but c'mon. Erik slid you some of that herb, right?"Let Daniel Kaluuya take up the mantle. He's a fantastic actor. And already played a Black Panther.
I think avoiding a recast and working through the unexpected tragic death could lead to something much more interesting.Yeah. Delay production by a few years to give people who needed it some time to grieve, then recast the part.

I don't think it's just capitalism necessarily. Actor availability is a major concern for films with expansive casts and there are a lot of major actors in Black Panther that all likely have projects lined up years down the line.100%. The Marvel Machine should've went on pause for this one, out of respect for everyone. Forcing production is a gross look to me.
But you know, capitalism, etc.
Same, was looking forward to that Yasuke film he was doing as wel.My biggest fear for BP2 was always that they spend any significant amount of time introducing Namor instead of focusing on Wakanda
I really wish we never lost Chadwick
Have you seen What If?I thought the Multiverse angle was the perfect excuse to recast Black Panther as Michael B. Jordan. As in killmonger was Black Panther in another verse.
I'm planning to Binge them very soon! I assume this is hinted at? lol
do they really?Well T'Challa can't die of cancer, because Wakanda has the cure for cancer.
Back on topic-t'cholla should have been recast. I know everyone would have preferred that Chadwick be alive and continue the role, but I think that this would be the best solution out of a number of bad choices.
In the comics yes. But they do not share it because they don't see the point of sharing the cure with a country that promotes the usage of cigarette smoke.

Exactly this. This movie should've happened during the blip, thus explaining why T'Challa wasn't around. And then, a couple years from now you recast and keep the ball going.
Kinda with you but giving it a small chance
Dude seemed prime to become one of the biggest actors in Hollywood.I understand this, but honestly the quality of this sequel will be least of what we lost when we passed.
A few would but I could see Boycotts started, ppl sending death threats to whoever was cast and other shitty things.I think I agree with this. I hope people would understanding if they had went this route.
Ooooff. That's a really problematic reason IMO. Cigarettes aren't the only thing that cause cancer. Hope the MCU avoids the entirelyIn the comics yes. But they do not share it because they don't see the point of sharing the cure with a country that promotes the usage of cigarette smoke.
To be fair it was only mentioned on one page of one issue.Ooooff. That's a really problematic reason IMO. Cigarettes aren't the only thing that cause cancer. Hope the MCU avoids the entirely
There's a lot of things problematic about cures in superhero books, like all mutants being naturally immune to AIDs but no one synthesizing their blood or whatever enzymes exist in their blood to cure the disease. Let alone not basing anything off of Wolverine and Sabretooth's regeneration to treat injuries and diseases.Ooooff. That's a really problematic reason IMO. Cigarettes aren't the only thing that cause cancer. Hope the MCU avoids the entirely
Absolutely agreed with this. T'Challa to me is basically the leader of Earth. He's the leader of The Avengers and is basically the representative for all things Earth in the cosmos.Removing the only male black genius king superhero because his actor died was my biggest fear.
Yanking away a character that could serve as an aspirational role model for black boys will forever be a bad idea to me.
Comics always lend themselves to those sorts of weird rationales which let them keep reality mostly as we know it despite people like Tony Stark, T'Challa, Reed Richards, or Amadeus Cho who could dramatically improve the quality of life for all. It's best not to think about it too hard as it doesn't make sense and really only works for an audience that is actively trying to suspend disbelief.
Yep. Reed can fix or create anything. But can't cure Ben Grimm-unless it's for one day a year.Comics always lend themselves to those sorts of weird rationales which let them keep reality mostly as we know it despite people like Tony Stark, T'Challa, Reed Richards, or Amadeus Cho who could dramatically improve the quality of life for all.
