um. wow. We will really see some differences a few years into this thing. Exciting to watch and play all of it! im here for it!
What kind of differences?

Also why they seem to be merging the SDK/GDK. It's to make porting easier and encourage players to switch from Windows 7/8 to 10.Considering Microsoft's overall strategy, it seems like the right move for them to stick as closely to the featureset in upcoming GPUs as possible, without going overboard with console-proprietary hardware features. Lowering the porting barrier between console and PC and such (however much it may actually be lowered, here).
DF couldn't have asked for a better matchup.
You don't think each company has an idea what the other is doing? With all the developers and insiders in the know, it's literally impossibleThey dont know what Sony was doing though. How would they know?
I wouldn't read to much into it for now. But it would be cool to hear from Sony why they never answered DF request about RDNA2 feature set.Or it could not. Digital Foundry has mentioned in several videos that they asked Sony for confirmation on specific RDNA2 features and they never got it. It could very well be that Sony's GPU has custom functionality achieving similar results or it could be that some features were omitted for some reason. Neither possibility can be dismissed with the information currently available.
We don't know what makes things even better. That's just speculation on your part.MS marketing catering directly to console warriors...
Having a 1:1 architecture with the PC chips is not even a real advantage if a platform holder decide to make ad hoc customizations that make things even better in the context of their closed system.
No lies detected.I think he means assuming that Sony has equivalent features for ever single RDNA2 feature. It pure speculation either way because Sony hasn't released any info yet.
Why are we expecting feature parity for this consoles, when both asked AMD to make custom enhancements. Thats like assuming, because Xbox One had a dedicated audio chip, the PS4 has to have one aswell. Which it didn't iirc.So people are still using marketing to argue that the ps5 can't do this same stuff? lol
Not really. If Sony said that they'd be lying because SX has 3D audio and instant loading. Microsoft isn't lying about RDNA2 features. It'd be like Sony claiming only the PS5 will give gamers instant load times or only the PS5 will give gamers immersive 3D Audio. They don't claim either. They do say the PS5 will give gamers both, though.
No and the Xbox isn't much closer than the PS5 to PC. Lots of custom tech inside the Xbox, too. With how the Xbox(s) are close to PC architecture, would this mean that it could be cheaper to produce sooner?
I could word this better I think but....
interesting. probably why dev kits came in late.

I really am curious how they will compare. On paper the XSX is more powerful but will that translate into the multiplatform games? Usually one console becomes my main then the other for exclusives. I wonder what's going to take that this gen. MS has the more powerful hardware and their future proofing makes me feel more confident. PS5 could be just as powerful and they have what seems to be a more impressive controller.DF couldn't have asked for a better matchup.
XSX is more powerful enough to generate curiosity and discussion (clicks) but not so powerful as to make better performance a foregone conclusion. This is also without throwing into the mix the SSD differences.
Simply stated, DF gonna eat.
We don't know. Doesn't mean Microsoft doesn't know. But we don't know what Sony's RDNA2 features are for MS to be speaking the way they are. It comes across as PR fluff.
Figured, I guess on the manufacturing costs, this will remain on the same course as any other Gen.No and the Xbox isn't much closer than the PS5 to PC. Lots of custom tech inside the Xbox, too.
Well that's on Sony for not outlining their RDNA2 features. But we don't know what Sony's RDNA2 features are for MS to be speaking the way they are. It comes across as PR fluff.
microsoft obviously know, they should have ps5 devkits
Now let's try to not all fall out over some pedantic wording about chip architecture please
Suggested without evidence iirc, unless I missed a insider post. I think it's silly to suggest company X has everything company Y has and vice versa. There are always differences. This probably doesnt mean much at all, I would think. Its been suggested before that Sony has equivalents for all the "missing" RDNA2 features.
https://www.anandtech.com/show/1620...-starts-at-the-highend-coming-november-18th/2"Through close collaboration and partnership between Xbox and AMD, not only have we delivered on this promise, we have gone even further introducing additional next-generation innovation such as hardware accelerated Machine Learning capabilities for better NPC intelligence, more lifelike animation, and improved visual quality via techniques such as ML powered super resolution."
Possibly referencing AMD's DLSS alternative?
Intended to be AMD's answer to NVIDIA's DLSS technology, Super Resolution is a similar intelligent upscaling technique that is designed to upscale lower resolution images to higher resolutions while retaining much of their sharpness and clarity.
I see this the same as Bethesda acquisition... If was Sony going full RDNA 2 this post was full of "Mark Cerny is the best" but the fact was Microsoft doing the right thing here, people are "let's wait and see"
I mean this a clearly advantage
lol It's not Sony's job to police MS's decision to use fluffy language in their marketing. If they decide to address it, they will. If not? The proof will be in the pudding.
Do y'all ever get tired of all the persecution complex?

Kinda desperate from MS. We know PS5 is based off RDNA2 but they implemented their own I/O solution, whereas MS just stuck to the basics. Pathetic to claim that this means PS5 isn't RDNA2 when it obviously is.
AMD's GPU Architecture.Guys, what is rdna ? and why is it so important ? care to explain please ?
It will be fun seeing the game being identical across consoles for sure.
So does anyone have the patents Sony registered that counter some of the features they might not have? Would love to see them.
Interestingly, for this exact reason I see relative parity or even possibly a slight advantage with PS5 in 2020/2021 and then Xbox with a noticeable but not astronomical advantage 2022 onwards. I also think Id, Arkane, Coalition, Obsidian, Ninja Theory, BGS, InXile, etc. will do some really cool stuff with the tech, particularly in machine learning and AI. And of course Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, Guerilla, etc. will raise the bar for PS5.
.Interested to see how this plays out long term. With games like Watch Dogs and DMCVSE getting ray tracing post launch on XSX, it sounds like the XSX/XSS GDK isn't quite finished so we'll probably be waiting until late 2021/2022 to see games really utilizing the new tech.
Watch Dogs is getting RT on launch though? It's even present on Xbox Series S presentation, DMCVSE I assume is because devkits being late or something, at worst Sony moneyhatted it lol.Interested to see how this plays out long term.
