20 Times you say...

Wow. I have been thinking about watching them again at some point but both of them I have only seen once in theaters.

I remember sometimes going to the cinema by myself to see them again when it was coming to the end of their respective runs, some of the best viewings I ever had! I think it also helped that some of my friends loved the films too and as a bunch of teenagers who want to watch something in the cinema it was kinda like popcorn for us.

Then I watched them numerous times when the dvds came out, and again when I got the Ultimate Matrix Collection boxset.

Probably the Godfather for me.

This is why I loved the Ringer's "Rewatchables" series because when it started it really was about the most rewatchable movies. I know that theme can only go on for so long.

Nowadays there's no cable TV of movie channels, so you don't have that "TBS saturday afternoon affect" like you did in the 90s. The reason I saw Shawshank a 1000 times as a teenager, besidides that it was a wonderful movie, is that it was on TV almost every Friday and Saturday night on TBS.

I think Titanic is probably my most watched movie. Must've watched that like at least one a month for a while there. Haven't seen it in a year or so though. Runner up is Shaun of the Dead.

Lord of the Rings trilogy (especially Fellowship) would surely be at the top for me.

I imagine the next closest would be Spirited Away, with Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke not far behind).

My most rewatchable movie is definitely Rushmore. I love Wes Anderson and Rushmore is just before he started getting really weird. The characters are fantastic, the jokes really resonate with me, and it always puts me in a good mood. I've watched it maybe a dozen times.

I could honestly watch Tremors every week and still be entertained by it.

Probably the movie I have seen the most in my life.
This is true too. Maybe because of how often it was on cable channels as a kid.
I watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy every Christmas break.

As far as singular movies, though, I've watched The Rock, the weird cheesy action movie from the 90s about Alcatraz with Sean Connery, Nic Cage, and Ed Harris, like 40 or so times.
I wasn't a huge fan of the LotR trilogy when it came out, but I've watched it twice in the past few years and keep getting the urge to watch it again.

I recommend watching them more, lol. Make sure to watch the extended editions. There's something so unique and great about them, and they're perfect for getting lost for a while and not worrying about things.

There's two different answers from me to the thread title, because when I was a kid my older brother forced me to watch the original Tron with him about 200 times. 🙄

As for most rewatchable, I could probably view these five titles every month for the rest of my life and never get tired of them:

Sullivan's Travels
Mildred Pierce
The Big Sleep
Sweet Smell of Success
Touch of Evil

Apart from the Star Wars Trilogy, the film I've probably watched the most since I was a child is Cecil B. DeMille's Ten Commandments...

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the Gene Wilder one). It's like my comfort food movie, I love Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka, and the aesthetics of the movie are really appealing to me (like the factory, the candy shop at the beginning, the "forest" with all the candy, etc.).

Cars 3

The first couple months of Covid, that shit was on, like, daily. Sometimes we even ran it back to back with itself.

But in terms of movies I enjoy watching a lot, The Truman Show.

The Fifth Element is the first one that comes to mind. I've actually bought the movie five times now, and I could probably watch it any time, regardless of how long since I've watched it.

This is a sentiment I hold too and even though his other work is good as well I definitely still prefer Rushmore over his other films, I think his ability to be more grounded with the characters was one of the best strengths of that film. Seeing Rushmore in theaters was one of the first movies to get me into the indie film scene of the time, made a huge impact on my appreciation for what cinema could be. Also Max is probably Schwartzman's best role outside of Listen Up Philip. That particular type of persona that Max embodied also reminded me heavily of a good childhood friend, some of the similarities in mannerisms were kind of uncanny.

Hot Fuzz is insanely rewatchable.

This and Shaun of the Dead really are some of the best rewatchable comedies. They're also the perfect drinking movies.

Others mentioned Superbad and that's up there for sure, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg haven't come close to nailing a script since like they did with Superbad. The reunion watch party stream they did before the election was fantastic, you could tell they all had a blast making it.

I think I've probably watched Ghost Protocol about 9 billion times.

For some odd reason, I watched Pacific Rim like 12 times in one year. I think it's because I kept upping my home theater equipment and I wanted to test out the 3D blu ray and surround sound. Then we went on vacation with my nephews and it was the only blu ray I had that had a DVD I could take to the rented vacation home.

Haven't watched it since then. Fun film though.

Definitely 'Alien', followed by 'Predator'.

Dad?
I am sure I have seen Jaws nearly 300 times since 1975.

I actually finally read Jaws this year. Some of the differences are pretty interesting but changed the way I look at the movie. I think there's some subtle fan service in there. After that rewatched Jaws and went down a rabbit hole of other shark movies and I can confidently say none match up. (duh)

Some of my favorite movies are the "old" one's with amazing conventional special effects.
Jaws
Alien
Aliens
The Thing
The Blob(1988)
The Fly(1986)

Besides those all I can think of that I've watched a ton are:
City of Lost Children
Enemy at the Gates
Magnolia
Momento
Gummo
Dawn of the Dead(2004)

I did also take like 4 friends to see Pulp Fiction all separately in the theater. I had a ton of gift certs from Christmas or something.
Was so fun seeing how they all reacted.
Probably watched Res Dogs, True Romance and Killing Zoe more times than Pulp Fiction but that's the most times I've seen a movie in a theater.

Edit: have to add Forest Gump. But it was mostly because it was my GF's comfort movie. I had no objections.

Forgot about Kubrick. I'm not gonna type all that shit

A ton of old Italian horror movies (Suspiria, The Beyond, and Demons specifically)

Kill Bill Volume 1, Batman Begins, and the 1990 Ninja Turtles movie.

The Big Lebowski is probably the movie I've watched the absolute most.

Honorable mentions that I have watched so many times I can't count:

It's a Wonderful Life (watch it every Xmas)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
LotR
Children of Men
There Will Be Blood
Les Mis 2012
Fury Road

The last two are from this past decade so there are probably other movies I've watched more but I still put those two into my rotation to watch regularly so I imagine they will claim places soon enough.

Romero's Dawn of the Dead (theatrical cut). Probably watched it near 200 times over the last 16-17 years. Re-Animator is probably the only movie that comes close in terms of amount of viewings.

I've seen many thousands of horror movies, but I've still never seen the original Dawn Of The Dead. I've even seen ALL of the direct-to-video Dead sequels.
