I know we've already gone on and on and on about it, but yeah, Rise of Skywalker gets worse every time you watch it.

"Palpatine has returned!"
"Wait, how?"
"Idk"

Like just wtf.

phantom menace - star wars always had some political story in it but this movie is all about it, it's slow and the set up for the next two prequels makes them have to rush a bunch of stuff like the entirety of the clone wars.

Batman v Superman - superman and batman appear on the big screen for the first time ever and it's a super dour slog with basically everyone being unlikable. Its no fun allowed the movie

Midgar, With Love
Aliens 3 and The Rise of Skywalker.

I love Alien and rather like Aliens. The third one struck me as being written by someone knives-out against what Ripley accomplished, and who she saved, mere days beforehand. What a mess.

The Rise of Skywalker isn't even that bad. But it's poor enough that it killed my interest in the sequel era, at least for the time being. And that says a lot because for years I wanted to see greater support for it. I'm just kind of "living in" the post-ROTJ years now, I guess.

The Rise of Skywalker is easily the most recent one.

They couldn't sense the disturbance in the Fortnite. Because that's canon.

So you hadn't watched Man of Steel by that point, or...?
Man of Steel was not the Superman movie that I wanted and it has a host of issues...but I never hated it. I had hope that BvS would at minimum be just as good but likely better, especially considering how much was at stake for WB, for Ben Affleck, etc.

I admit that I foolishly and baselessly optimistic but I never imagined we would end up with the mindlessly stupid drivel that ended up on the big screen.

It made me intimately familiar with the name "Chris Terrio", significantly diminishing all hope and expectation for both Justice League and Rise of Skywalker.

I feel like my first *proper* movie disappointment was Alien 3. I've since come to appreciate it but at the time, when Aliens was one of my favorite movies, I could not *believe* what they did.

Conan The Destroyer is probably up there too.

Personally I don't care about that, he mastered Plagueis' ability and created a magic clone whatever, I just don't like the themactic reasons for bringing him back. I wanted to see the story where Rey doesn't get an easy answer, that her parents were good and were just trying to protect her from her evil grandad, or showing an empire that is ruled by an evil but very human character, with Kylo Ren. How does Rey deal with that new type of main antagonist? With Palpatine, she lets the jedi power her and deflects his lightning until he melts away. I found nothing evocative about it.

This is me.

MoS has certain things about it I really liked, in fact, along with the things I hated. BvS pretty much doubled down on what I hated.

I was a bit annoyed Rise of Skywaker walked
back on the evocative nobody reveal and made her a Palpatine, and she kissed Kylo Ren at the end. It was better in TLJ where she closed the door on him.
I was a bit pissed they listened to the haters and social media harrassers and put Rose in it for about 1 minute. If it was just a bad blockbuster whatever but it was a spiteful film.

same.

What a terrible movie all around. I actually liked Rose in TLJ, flawed character but interesting. JJ listened to all the dumb reddit posts i guess.

Not never, but recently Train to Busan Presents Peninsula.

The first film was so good. It should have been a one and done. For some reason ($$$) they made a spin off? Sequel? It has nothing to do with "Train to Busan" It's just a cash grab off the name. However, the actual film is just rubbish on its own anyways.

Christopher Nolan the thread for me. Even his good movies are generally overvalued, imo. (and no I don't mean anyone shouldn't feel the way they feel, if you extremely like his movies go with god, you are correct and valid in loving what you love)

That's a good one. I know that these far too late comedy sequels all suck, but I wasn't expecting the level of horrible I got from Zoolander 2. I'd rather watch Dumb and Dumber To than watch Zoolander 2 again.

The only joke I remember liking from Zoolander 2 is Mugatu's introduction scene with the body suit. And the part with Ariana Grande for other, non-comedy reasons.

Yeah the only one I really like is Memento but that might be because of how young I was when I saw it. Haven't rewatched it since.
