Pokemon X and Y. I was mind blown by the idea we are finally moving from 2d to 3d in main line pokemon games.
It was on the cusp of being cancelled tooAce Combat 7
There was such a long gap of time between information and there were so many rumors that the project had been dropped that I was so scared every time I saw news leading up to the release that the project had gotten cancelled.
On top of that the fact that we hadn't had a numbered Ace Combat release since like 2006 made the 13 year wait fucking painful. Will it live up to the hype??? Is the music gonna be as good?? Am i over hyping it?? Oh god are they gonna screw it up? OH GOD ANOTHER DELAY? OH GOD IT'S CANCELLED I JUST KNOW IT!! HELPPPPP
I didnt really distract myself i'd just kinda try not to follow the news tooo closely so I could let my mind focus on current releases and things i was doing.
I really need to go back to Dragonfall. That game kept me hooked somehow even if I didn't know why.Probably Trails in the Sky SC. After finishing the first game and it leaving where it did it was a long wait...
In terms of shorter ones I desperately wanted Shadowrun HK after Dragonfall. I don't think I've backed anything so quick before.

Honestly don't know why i keep falling for the same shit. Here I've been eagerly waiting for SMTV, knowing full well it won't release for another 2-3 years.

Yeah and 3rd was only a dream at the time. Every time I think about SC I am thankful for its localisation. I can only imagine how challenging it was and how much it took to make happen.I almost forgot. It took so long for SC to actually release in the west.
I'm normally reasonably patient. When I was a child I knew my mum had ff10 for my birthday, and I was so bored one weekend a few weeks out, like I was in physical pain I was so bored, I felt this insane craving because I'd decided this thing I didn't have was the thing I needed in order to be happy. I can still remember exactly how it felt and it was horrible.
Anyway I took all my pocket money I'd been saving for other things and I convinced her to let me buy it off her. I was desperate. I dumped out my money and got the game and put it in and... I was still bored and didn't care.
That triggered a long learning period, where I really started to understand myself and other people.
I've never felt like that since. I've been looking forward to many games, my current is disco Elysium, but it's not a negative manifestation anymore. I think 'hoo boy I can't wait', then I do something else and forget about it like a normal person.
Skate 4
Oh wait...
Reals answer: The witcher 3 and Red Dead 2
Cyberpunk will probably be worse but I try to not think about it.
Avoiding spoilers when it launched in Japan was an absolute nightmare. The temptation was so strong but Im so glad I was able to hold off.
