Lightning for Smash
LET'S GOOOOOOO

''moon'' Official website

The legendary anti-RPG ''moon'' is now available as a port under the complete supervision of the staff of the original version. RPGs without battles, NPCs with their own time-based behaviour patterns, and an MD system that lets you play your favorite music. And at the end of your adventure...

I got irrationally excited to see this. Or maybe it is rational?

I hope Tim Rogers hid the entirety of his FF 7 Remake review somewhere in the translations of this game.

Hard to tell from the screenshot, but what makes this game great?

It's something a small group of people have posted about on here as a wonderful Japanese deconstruction of RPG tropes and generally just very effecting story. I've purposefully tried not to dig too deeply once they announced it was getting a US release because usually when people get so excited about a more niche project on here I find gold. Dunno if I would've known to check out 428 if it weren't for this place!

Basically, you are playing as a character that exists at the same time as the Hero, who has already saved the world and is just endlessly grinding now. It's a great subversion of tropes. Like in your classic Dragon Quest games, you enter a house and start breaking pots and stuff, here you need to help those NPCs.

Undertale was heavily inspired by this game.

I can finally stop buying Kimura's games in an attempt to finance this.

WOO WOO. I'm super excited for this. Seems like the exact kind of thing I'd love. I hope this does well and gets other Love-de-Lic games localized.

This is very exciting!

Side note: I hope Onion somehow gets the opportunity to remaster Chulip. Not sure how the rights would work in that situation, but I'd love to see it on Switch.

I seriously can't wait for the English release. Never did I think it would ever happen. Very curious about Tim Rogers' localization too. It's not his first localization gig (he translated manga back in the day for example).
