Worth noting they also said on Steam that a demo is coming there also - though by the looks of it later than this one.

It'll also be cheaper on Steam when it releases too. More here.

Don't want to be a Debbie downer but... I'll just say that the game's 87 aggregate score is off for me.
It's off for me as well. It's easily 90+. It's cool that not everyone loves the game like some do, so I'm just kidding around, but it depends on what you're looking for in games. You liked Guacamelee more; I thought that was a 7 game at best, but that game was mostly linear and had almost no adventure and puzzle elements and focused more on platform challenges whereas Monster Boy was more about puzzle solving and exploration (especially as you get further in the game). One isn't necessarily better than the other, it's just what you value more. Haven't played Hollow Knight yet, but I just pre-ordered the physical version so we'll see.

Thank you very much for the kind comments, Demo is up in Japan already - Happy Gaming! ^_^

You're welcome. The game just clicked for me, much more so than most other contemporary 2D games. There's something about the gameplay mechanics, level variety and overall polish that just sucked me in. Not a moment of useless filler in this lengthy game :) But now I'm just gushing, so excuse me :)

Wonder Boy in Monster Land was one of my favorite arcades back in the day. Monster Boy gave me all the warm fuzzies back by being a long, modern take on the formula. Pure <3

It's a terrific game, a very satisfying 18 hours for me. Hoping the demo brings more sales.

Really enjoyed the game and I'm definitely getting the full game after I'm done with The Division 2 and Sekiro.

I recommend the Wonderboy: The Dragons Trap remake. It's not as good as Monster Boy, imo... but it's still a good game. I deffo recommend checking out Monster World IV, it's my favourite in the series along with Monster Boy.

I was interested in picking this game up eventually so I just tried the demo. Had a good time with it and I'd like to pick up the full game sometime later this year when I have more of a Metroidvania itch.

Demo was fun, game has gone from "looks not half bad but I have way too many games in my backlog" to "I have too many games in my backlog so will not buy right now, but will definitely buy"

Yeah this game shot up on my list after playing the demo. Got too much on my plate right now but I'll try to grab it soon.

This game stands with the best metroidvanias of the generation IMO. It's densely packed with mechanics, secrets, and inventive puzzles the whole way through.

Aaaand yet another example of why every game should have a demo. The art-style of this game always looked "cheap" to me in gameplay videos that I easily overlooked it last year. But man does it look great on the Switch in handheld mode. And being able to actually play the game has me feeling a grand adventure awaits

It gets better and better. It was my personal GOTY 2018. Later on the game really gets good with its puzzles and dungeon design.

No new game plus, but it's a metroidvania, so it's worth exploring the entire map and finding all the hidden items and armor and stuff. Every piece of armor and equipment has special powers, and finding a full matching outfit will unlock even more special powers. So while it lacks new game +, it's more like Zelda: MM in that there are lots and lots of optional equipment to find and unlock that gives you lots of powers.

You can also upgrade all the equipment in the game, giving them even newer powers.
