No worries OP, i too am of the mind that MW3 is the better game.
Not in a world where Infinite Warfares MP exists.
I will never understand this take when it comes to Infinite Warfares' MP. Infinite Warfare had the best gunplay, movement, map design(ESPECIALLY with its art direction), AND weaponry between the three advanced movement titles. Always felt like that game just got the short end of the stick for being the 3rd futuristic game in a row, which was a crying shame since i thought it refined BO3's movement while nearly everything else was stellar. I mean, the game had hybrid weaponry that didn't feel OP, how is that not Insta fun to some people?

I sunk hours into MW2 multiplayer. I sold MW3 probably less than a month after getting it and it basically killed Call of Duty for me. That's my take on the matter.

I know MW3 has it's fans, but I disagree with it being better than 2. It has a couple of really good campaign missions. That's about as far as my praise for it goes.

I haven't played 2, but I think MW3 is seriously underrated. One of the most balanced weapon systems and perks ever (minus the machine guns used for secondaries) and its ridiculously fun without noob tube spamming or relying on SP and juggernaut for the perk 2 slot. All the weapon classes are usable, and you can dramatically reduce recoil for the semi auto rifles by crouching or going prone. I'll always remember when you can put motion sensors and just lob c4 at that long hallway from the ground up is a favorite past time o mine on that one stage.

I would love a remaster!

I dunno about the single player. I couldn't stomach it on the wii, but the multi was a blast!

I won't even mention anything else, but really? The maps are better? Maybe you got the games mixed up and played the wrong one, because MW3 has shit maps.

Meh. The last good Call of Duty was the first Modern Warfare. The rest is just irrelevant chaff.

They had interesting singleplayer campaigns in Black Ops 1 and Infinite Warfare but that's it. The last decent multiplayer in a COD was MW1.

Lol MW3 had nothing on mw2s legendary MP.
The maps started getting way too sloppy, and I remember the hit detection feeling more like a treyarch game, still played the hell out of it tho.

with mw2 you had the perfect blend of pure bullshit and amazing gameplay, you had to play it at the time to understand it!

You really don't have to play all the time to understand it. It's the easiest thing in the world to understand.

Just remember the order.

Start game. Choose OMA. Use your explosives. Find a corner. Switch class. Use explosives. Repeat.

Or, quickscope.

I'd have to play MW3 again. Just finished 2 again a few weeks back, it was good but not a patch on COD4. I dont remember anything about MW3 MP either, I think the issue or my issue was I was so hyped for 2 it didn't live up to expectations, they took it too far with the akimbo shit, death streaks, spawn grenade camping etc and it honestly soured anything which came after, MW 3 must of been pretty forgettable for me, because I just can't remember anything about it off the top of my head, bar the opening scene which carries on straight after MW2.

No. It's not. Not even close. Still a great game. But MW1-2 are the best of the best. Even after all this time.

infinite Warfare is the only game to touch that greatness.

Hopefully Modern Warfare 2019 joins that select few this week.

Hell no. I'd rather play post hacked/akimbos MW2 than to go back to MW3. Spec Ops and the Campaign were miles better too.

Bad take, OP. Bad take. MW3 is cliché garbage. MW2 may not be as good as MW1, but it's by far the most playable of the trilogy today.
Not in a world where Infinite Warfares MP exists.
This is a bad take, too. It's not the best CoD MP, but it's still extremely well-made and has a unique art style and gameplay aesthetic that makes it one of my favorite non-BO CoD games.

hell no

Mw3's campaign has some good moments, but it relies faaar too much on set pieces, and doesn't really have anything else of value inbetween. It's also got some eye rolling retcons that feel completely unneccessery and diminishes the previous games. Mw2's story, characters were far more interesting, better developed, and while it may have had slightly less set pieces, they were much more earned, making them more memorable too.

The multiplayer was straight up bad, the map design was just terrible, and i remember dropping it a couple of weeks after release. I played Mw1 and 2 for over a year.

DING DONG your opinion is WRONG! All jokes aside though, I think MW2 is still the best, slightly above MW1 tied with the OG Black Ops.

In what aspects in particular? I guess the one argument you could make is that the multiplayer being more balanced is an overall more enjoyable experience than everything being OP in MW2 with killstreaks being insane on top of that. But when you delve deeper into the MW3 multiplayer, it's certainly a step down in most regards. Take the maps for example, the only memorable one really is Dome and that's cause Infinity Ward keep bringing it back in their recent games. The killstreaks while less overpowered, got nerfed way hard and were borderline boring to use. The only true enjoyable one to run was Specialist.

As for the campaign, it's not even close. MW2 was absolutely balls to the wall insane, but still super fun with great characters. MW3 lost all of that and became tedious to play through, even on a first time.

Then you look towards Spec Ops, which you could again argue had more variety in things to do between the missions and survival mode. But again I think the missions were pretty lackluster in comparison to MW2's fun and memorable ones (I still remember the one where you had to blow up all the cars on the bridge, lol). And the survival mode was barebones in just multiplayer maps, which was boring.

The best aspect of MW3 though? Its DLC schedule and output. It is constantly overlooked and it put out a steady stream of content among Face-Off and even unique maps to the mode alone. It was great.

Not a single COD since MW2 has reached the same highs. Some good, some bad. Series has not been the same since the IW blowup.

MW2 was the beginning of the end from a multiplayer perspective. They brought in so, so many bad things. Ruined the competitive side of cod. Bad maps, guns and stupid time to kills. Also the killstreaks were just shit.

I can see why so many kids fell in love with MW2. But from a comp perspective it was trash.

I loved MW3 multiplayer and thoroughly hated the MW2 MP. Sure, campaign was way better in MW2, but that's it.

Also, I kinda like the MW3 soundtrack more for its "in your face"-Michael Bay movie OST-vibe.

The praise for MW2's campaign at the time was largely exaggerated. Modern Warfare had a lot of memorable campaign moments, and people remembered the shock of the nuclear explosion and what happened with the main character. So they took the wrong message out of it, made a nonsensical storyline where every half an hour your main character dies some "unpredictable death". By the 3rd or 4th it pulls it just becomes so fucking predictable, you're totally expecting the game to murder your character at the end of every mission, and indeed like half the time you're right. If 1 had some impact and punch, 2 felt like "let's max out the shocks and explosions". It was nowhere near as good or fresh and MW1, and while it had its moments (No Russian being the most obvious one), it felt like an expansion pack made by somebody who had no subtlety whatsoever.

As for MW3, it didn't have the memorable parts of MW1-2 but it least it partially stepped away from the overkill of deaths and shocks of MW2. It just felt like a more coherent package, with lesser heights but also far less lows and clichés. Infinity Ward's best campaign however is Infinite Warfare in my opinion: surprisingly ambitious and original, and very impactful overall. The final mission is one of the best missions in the history of the franchise.

Nothing about Mw3 is good. I feel color blind with the muted colors and awful map design. Everything blends in.

If you mean the campaign, you're objectively wrong.
If you mean everything, idk, but probably still wrong lol.

I didn't even like MW2, but I felt it was better than 3. I found MW3 to be completely whatever throughout. For me series died after Black Ops, I've never even played BO2.

I was hooked to MW 2019 beta though.

I never understood what people liked about competitive Cod4, it just removed everything fun and forced extremely limited encounters.

Campaigns:

MW2>BO1>MW>IW>MW3>BO2>AW>WW2>Ghosts>BO3

Multiplayer:

MW2>BO3>BO1>BO2>MW3>IW>AW>Ghosts>MW>WW2

MW (or COD4) is actually the multiplayer I dislike the most alongside WW2. Unfortunately that's the only one I ever play anymore on my PS4 as it was given for PS+. It's way too barebones for me.

I haven't played it but I agree, pretty much anything would be better than MW2. That game killed my interest in the series almost entirely. Hated the MP, hated the campaign.

Are you talking about promod or comp on console? Both were great. Comp on console just removed dumb stuff like 3x nades, RPK, Jugg and bad maps.

I like multiplayer shooters for good shooting mechanics and being able to outplay people. I don't see how comp limited encounters - if anything it stopped you getting killed by stupid stuff to enable good plays without worrying about claymores etc.

My 1000 hours in MW2 and 50 hours in MW3 tell all there is to know about my opinion.

Modern Warfare 2 is the only competitive multiplayer game that has ever held my attention, ever.

I'm a chilled single player gamer but MW2 was so fun I played it for 4 years and loved every minute. I even got to the point where I was extremely good at it.

On my gaming history it's an outlier, I never played these types of games yet there's MW2... So much fun, do much carnage. Excellent game.

MW3 lost all that and along with Black Ops was the start of the journey of the series going stale IMO. The mayhem, OPness and outright carnage was lost from the series after MW2.

The maps are better? They were incomprehensibly bad. Absolutely mind-bogglingly bad. This new MW beta gave me a few flashbacks. Guess they still got the same map designers or something.

Quickscoping was never a viable strategy in MW2. You couldn't consistently get a positive KD doing that. Proves you weren't good at the game at the time if you think that. OMA Noob tube was annoying, but mostly a noob strategy that never yielded many nukes.

What? Sniping is easy in MW2, maybe you weren't very good pal!

It's a strat that ruined a lot of nukes though. Kinda the point of why it's so annoying.

Bad maps, bad streaks, poor perk balance and just feeling like a rehash, nah.

MW2 is like the MvC2 of CoD games.

Who thought

"You know what would be cool in our grounded military game? If people could swap out their pistol for dual wielding shotguns at no extra cost, not even a perk slot and while we are at it let's at the ability to zoom in from metres away like a missile and one shot people with a knife attack. While we are at it let's just create kill streak spam and go further by adding nukes to our franchise which is known for being more realistic compared to titles like Call of Duty ."

Would be a good idea in the MW2 meeting room? I am 100% sure the meeting went down exactly like that. Trust me, I'm an expert.

MW2's MP being the worst CoD MP by a mile is a hill I'm willing to die on.
110% agreed. The game was so, for lack of a better word, "supportive" of all the kids who would rather trickshot and 360 diving quickscope people from a shed rather than playing the actual objective. I haven't played the supposed worst, Infinite Warfare, but I can safely say out of every CoD MP I've played, MW2 is easily the worst.
