This morning when I woke up and shook my trusted Magic 8-ball, the same answer kept floating to the surface: September 8. I thought that was pretty strange, but then checked the calendar and was utterly blown away by the wisdom of what some would call "a cheap toy that you can't consult to make all of your major life decisions." It turns out that September 8 will be an incredible day for fans of Minecraft Dungeons with not one or two, but THREE big events all landing on the same day. Because I'm the kind of person who eats dessert first, I figured I'd start with the biggest news, but these announcements are the text equivalent of a three-scoop sundae for dinner.

The Creeping Winter DLC brings a wintry storm that threatens to consume all it touches. The only chance of halting the biting frost is for a hero to take on new missions and relentless new enemies! Since no good deed goes unrewarded, let's say it's finders keepers on all the new armor, weapons, and artifacts you'll run into along the way. Just watch out for chilling new mobs and slippery ice on your way to save the day!

We're also rolling out a free game update on September 8 that will include some fresh features: new merchants and Daily Trials. Save captured Merchants you encounter as you play the game and they'll be so grateful that they'll set up shop in your camp! The Blacksmith will upgrade items for you, and the Gift Wrapper will allow you to trade items with other players in multiplayer. The Merchants can also be levelled up for additional stock. The Daily Trials will provide fun new challenges every day! Daily Trials make wild changes to the game mechanics which provide difficult, experimental, or fun challenges for you to overcome.

he third of our big September 8 announcements is that Minecraft Dungeons is available in physical format! You can finally hold the Nintendo, Sony, and Xbox versions of the game in your hand. The physical retail version of the game is the Hero Edition of the game, which includes the Jungle Awakens DLC, Creeping Winter DLC, base game, and unique cosmetics (like a cape). These cool-looking boxes will be landing in all regions on September 8, but our PS4 players in Japan will need to be extra patient as that edition of the game will release a month later due to production delays.

I really like that weird key with a face they came up with.

So awesome! I can't wait. I just finished the game for the third time, this time on Apocalypse difficulty, with my family last night. What a great game. Will be all over this update in September.

Damn. The trading and upgrading should have been there Day 1. Done with the game now. But those features would have made it a lot more fun.

Glad we can trade items. So often me and my girlfriend would come across something that would better suit the other playstyle but we can't hand it over.

I can't see where they say trading, but awesome. One of the reasons I dropped it. My gf kept getting nothing while I was swimming in gear

Sounds like it's gonna be great :)

Trading is something I missed playing with my partner, and being able to add more life to the hub with new merchants and stuff will be cool.

What's stopping you from going back? Obviously more content and more to do. 3-6 months from now there will probably be another content drop and more to come.after that.

Some fun sounding new features there.
Now if only they would remove the online only requirement from the pc version.

I know it doesn't add that much for a lot of folks, but I really hope there are more achievements as well. I was disappointed that the jungle dlc didn't have any new achievements to go for.

I have to say, though, what a surprise this game was. I hate Minecraft (I know, I know...) and wasn't going to play this. My daughter saw it on gamepass and asked me to download it as she likes playing couch coop stuff with me and it became a huge hit. The whole family played it so much. It honestly got more play time than a lot of games in the recent months. It's just so much fun and really scales to different skill levels.

Switch physical release has that ugly download required banner, so, considering the base game is less than 4GB, I guess they are using a 4GB cart and the content will be the base game while both DLCs should be downloaded.

Did they ever fix the garbage loot? I'd sink tons of money into the 2 shops and get stuff way below my level and I'd rarely get decent drops, I beat the game with hardly any equipment changes. The higher difficulty is whooping my ass and the game just doesn't give a shit. For a kids dungeon crawler this games RNG is brutal.

This seems very unlikely.

Do you have any super low items? The game will generate shop loot based on average level.

Item upgrades are very welcome because it sucked having to just reroll and hope your random item would be something good.

Got every achievement. Beat the Jungle DLC already. Game just doesn't have much to offer beyond that.

This game is so great. My 8 year old has had her first dip into ARPG's and she is hooked! We play every night.

Moving to Torchlight next! Diablo is too mature for her but someday!

any other kid friendly one's?

Couple Improvements I Hope Are Made:
1) ADD A DAMN SORT BUTTON TO INVENTORY! Lol drives me nuts that you can't sort by Type or Gear Level.
2) Scrollable map. Sometimes it's too big for the screen and you can't move it around.
3) Lockable items to prevent deletion by accident (despite the undo button).

I doubt they did but you can kinda force good loot. Post-level reward and shop loot is based on max gear score so what my GF and I did was right before going to the map table to choose level, equip your highest gear (despite usefulness) then once you load into the level, equip your normal gear. Right before leaving the level when you finish, do the same: equip highest gear and your reward chest and shop will be at max gear score.

We did this and we outpaced our toon level like mad. We're only level 70 with like 113 gear score.
