I'm very interested in seeing where this app leads them. I think it's awesome they're trying to become more than a console manufacturer and using their money to really grow.
That's not what that means, but yeah, that person was wrong.
Their tools are multi platform and focused on supporting many at once.
Hot damn. MS going for the complete global saturation.
How soon before we see Xbox Live on a Playstation ?
They should have totally have bought Epic late last gen and had UE4 integrated with all this thought.

Slip Space I have a feeling will be added to thisThey should have totally have bought Epic late last gen and had UE4 integrated with all this thought.
Doubt it.
Huh, that's interesting. I was always under the assumption that it was already on there. Guess not!
they also have the same ad regarding playstation.
other Microsoft games like Solitaire and Minecraft have Live stuff too.I'm pretty sure Wordament was the only app with achievements on iOS.
Not so much 'free' as replacing it with gamepass subs via opening up the service to as many platforms as possible. I don't see how charging console owners for access to xbox live gold will be viable in a few years, when the potential to be console-agnostic and hook consumers into their ecosystem by any means has much greater long term potential IMO. MS has a much better chance of having me as a long term customer if I can access the full breadth of their content without need for *another* closed box under my TV.

Considering they give away games every month with Gold, that isn't feasible if they're giving Gold away free. It would also need to be a long term rollout of a change, so those that had prepaid years ahead were not getting screwed. Unless they credited back the dollar value of time remaining. Or at least gave that many months of Game Pass for free.
Thanks :)
If they keep that approach they'll lose even more markets hare in terms of consoles sold.Seriously, it's so strange with how they're pushing this open and platform agnostic approach to Xbox Live but insist on arbitrarily punishing only Xbox One owners who want to play online multiplayer on the same servers, on the same game, with the same account.
besides the games of the month, xbox live on pc and mobile have the same features. it absolutely should be free. keep a sub for your 5 games a month if you want. but online multiplayer should not be an additional cost.Don't confuse "Xbox Live" with "Xbox Live Gold."
The first is an all-encompassing set of network services, offered free of charge to gamers and developers on a variety of platforms.
The second is a premium-tier level of service that offers online multiplayer on the Xbox hardware platform, along with some other perks (Games With Gold, discounts, etc.). The revenues from the second help to pay for the first.
This news has nothing to do with Xbox Live Gold.
its dev tools. more games will support live and its services. the xbox app has been on mobile for years btw.I might be missing something, but what's the big deal? At first I thought this meant we would be getting all of those games trapped on Windows Phones. But this is just the app? Can't say I've ever really wanted to message a friend on Xbox in the middle of the day. Or look at my Achievements.

Aahhh, gotchya. Thanks. So this means developers can start releasing Android games with Achievements?its dev tools. more games will support live and its services. the xbox app has been on mobile for years btw.
among other things, yes.Aahhh, gotchya. Thanks. So this means developers can start releasing Android games with Achievements?
I think something happened at the table and talks broke down. It could still happen and they're still probably doing something with Nintendo, just not this and not anytime soon. That doesn't really imply it isn't coming. MS are the ones who put up the blog post mentioning it. Maybe it just got pushed back?

They would be throwing away a fuckton of easy money by making xbox live free.
