I see 60€ on the Epic Store vs the 40€ I paid for a Steam key (cdkeys)Hoo boy
Cheaper too, 50$ for standard due to the lower cut. Thank you "competition."
This can go both ways. :P
The game's up, Valve. Ditch the 30% cut or watch your market evaporate.
As epic paid to keep it off steam a lower cut won't make a difference.I know people are furious at Epic but I feel like part of the blame is on Valve here. They could lower their cut to Epic's level easily and still make plenty of profit, but they have chosen not to, which makes the Epic exclusivity deals so appealing.
Seeing as it's already announced to be a 1 year Epic Store exclusive, the "lower cut" excuse is bullshit.
They merely got a nice money bag from Epic to keep it away from Steam.
Anyone who thought so is a grade A dumbass. Like, can people think for a second? If it wasn't a moneyhat why the fuck would they reduce the game price by 16%? Without that discount they'd literally would have a lesser cut than they would get on Steam. So it's not about the cut but how much epic paid to keep it off steam for a year.
I mean you can find steam version on other store for 39.5€, which from a quick go on xe.com is 45~46$.Hoo boy

I'M SO ANGRY I'LL PAY TEN DOLLARS MORE TO HAVE MY BITS IN A DIFFERENT FOLDER!
Actually... no I won't. Thanks for the discount, dudes.
Well at least your not over reacting... that's the main thing. And I had it pre ordered on cdkeys.....will check with them if they're gonna provide a steam key, if not, I'm gonna go back to pirating every single game that comes out exclusively on the Epic Store.
It's because people won't get virtual achievements or add a game to their virtual game backlog. Steam has a lot of people by the balls, it seems. Epic paid good money and consumers save about 10 bucks. Why are people so pissed? Why do people give a damn about behind the scenes dealing? You get a game for cheap. Does the epic loader crash computers or something?
Where are people getting this discount? Its £49.99 on both Steam Epic Store.
It's not cheaper though. 3rd party key resale sites like GMG and voidu normally have new releases priced lower than this. Some more shady ones like g2a and cdkeys even lower.Won't play a game that's cheaper just because it's not on steam ?
My point is that if Valve/Steam actually lowered their cut to Epic's, these exclusivity deals would probably be a lot less appealing and less publishers/devs would do them.As epic paid to keep it off steam a lower cut won't make a difference.
That's what I've done, god knows how much I HATE this fucking situation. It's ridicolous, now I'm ready for some idiot that tell me that the competition is good. Fuck you eraI went directly to Steam and pre-ordered it. I'd rather pay $60 on Steam than $50 on the Epic Store.
You are charged at the point of purchase.
And yes, they are pieces of shit for accepting such a moneyhat and Epic is a piece of shit for offering it.
This is making me regret building a PC. If publishers are going to abandon Steam, I'll just stick with PlayStation.

Interesting. I'd still rather have it on steam, I can't trust a digital storefront until it's got some years under it's belt.Hoo boy

I'll be curious if this bet seriously pays off. Getting a bigger cut means jack if you don't actually have the sales.
