I went directly to Steam and pre-ordered it. I'd rather pay $60 on Steam than $50 on the Epic Store.
I see 60€ on the Epic Store vs the 40€ I paid for a Steam key (cdkeys)

This isnt the reason games are leaving steam, its Epic paying to get games off of steam to there own platform doing it
Yet another publisher lured by the 88% cut, not realizing that the number of copies they'll sell on Epic versus Steam won't nearly make up for that.

The 30% cut is obserd tho, these games can cost tens of millions to make and steam think they can take 30% just to put it on thier platform ? Don't blame all these smaller devs doing this at all unlike many on this forum. I don't mind downloading another Client on my pc.
As epic paid to keep it off steam a lower cut won't make a difference.
Anyone who thought so is a grade A dumbass. Like, can people think for a second? If it wasn't a moneyhat why the fuck would they reduce the game price by 16%? Without that discount they'd literally would have a lesser cut than they would get on Steam.
I mean you can find steam version on other store for 39.5€, which from a quick go on xe.com is 45~46$.

The game has been available for preorder on many Steam key reseller sites for less than what Epic is charging
Well at least your not over reacting... that's the main thing.
It's because people won't get virtual achievements or add a game to their virtual game backlog. Steam has a lot of people by the balls, it seems. Epic paid good money and consumers save about 10 bucks.

As soon as I saw this, I preordered on Steam.
But I didn't read the part where it was just a one year exclusivity. In that case, I'm thinking of just cancelling the preorder now to save some money lol

It's not cheaper though. 3rd party key resale sites like GMG and voidu normally have new releases priced lower than this. Some more shady ones like g2a and cdkeys even lower.
A 10$ discount isn't particularily good by pcgaming standards.

My point is that if Valve/Steam actually lowered their cut to Epic's, these exclusivity deals would probably be a lot less appealing and less publishers/devs would do them.
This is going to keep happening, hopefully it leads to a war of the storefronts where they battle over developer cuts, features etc.

I think Valve is probably going to change Steam's TOS for Publishers soon so that once they start taking money/pre-orders using Steam's infrastructure they have a contractual obligation to STAY on Steam.

Not sure if this is a smart move for 4A. Will the sales they lose be made up with the smaller cut they give to Epic?
As a non-american, the steam price was cheaper than the epic price now...
Guess I'll just buy it for my 1X (or Scarlett, assuming it is playable on it) in a year or 2 when it is ~$15. I'll take the free games, Epic, but I'm not buying anything from your store.
I was considering this, but that sends the wrong message. They can take 70% of whatever steep discount on Steam, when I choose to buy it.
Steam keys for the game were going as low as 35 bucks. So 25 bucks cheaper. Thank to the Evil Valve Monopoly.
I love that games are fleeing Steam like it's the plague. Introduce a better alternative, and it shows how eager they were to leave Steam.

Well, there's a a year-long exclusivity window so Good Guy Epic is surely paying them a large sum.
