Sounds like Metal Gear lolLove games that start with somber cutscenes that take forever....
In fairness, Survive is definitely leaning really hard on the new style of codec calls and relatively simple cutscenes. It's clear they've been working with a low(er) budget. But if anything that's just caused them to revert to the style they used in the earlier MG titles, which has benefits of its own. That's literally Metal Gear Solid's trademark style but ok, lol...
And of course I made myself look ridiculous in the cutscenes... http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/AntiMacro/screenshot/8292133
The food and water bars tick down continuously? Oh fuck, this is going to be a nightmare.

This seems to be the case so far, that's my point. Sure, we can call the security camera scene cute as an homage but is the entire first hour and a half supposed to be an homage? In fairness, Survive is definitely leaning really hard on the new style of codec calls and relatively simple cutscenes. It's clear they've been working with a low budget. But if anything that's just caused them to revert to the style they used in the earlier MG titles. I think it'll be interesting to see the game's story pans out after the first few hours. Hopefully they don't rely entirely on short "character introduction shot > codec conversation" for all the major story beats.
Honestly, this sounds a bit more tedious than I had hoped for. It might be less egregious in practice but this might be a bit too much for me personally. I might wind up giving up after a few hours.
Pretty great deal on gcu made me cave. $32 plus a $10 gift card, why not?
Hmmm, was on the fence but this might just push me over...waiting for a few more impressions/reviews but that's a pretty sweet deal indeed...

I also hope there are major story beats and it's not just filler for 18 of the 20 hours. Only time will tell.
The multiple camera angles and foley effects are pretty well done. Hopefully the game has scenes like this sprinkled throughout and this stuff isn't entirely front/end-loaded.It doesn't change that the scene of a CRT surveillance camera with periodic screen refresh is pretty damn good framing in my opinion
Same. What a mess.Updated and still have the "Unable to start the game. To start the game, an update is required." error message.
Well, not that MGSV was so different in this.So I'm currently watching a stream and it seems like there are zero cutscenes after the first hour, save for those codec-ish conversations between characters. Is that right?
Japan got some insane Gray Fox helmet. Whole lot better than these ridiculous REX and RAY heads.
Yeah I'm waiting to hear more about this as wellI'm curious about the single player content, since the beta was pretty impossible solo.
Some people are saying you can earn it in-game and Japanese pre-orders just get it instantly. Can't confirm either way.
So this PS4 situation is really stupid.
Downloaded and installed update - can't start game because it says I need an update.
Update #1: I've reinstalled the game, and now Metal Gear Survive update 1.01 has started to download. Once that is installed, I'll report back to see if it's working.
Update #2: It didn't work. I'm still unable to start the game.
Here are the released patch notes for Metal Gear Survive update 1.02 and 1.01:

Crtl f helps. So do you just keep the character from the beta?
If yes, is there a way to change their appearance?
No need to apologies, the tone wasnt a call out, it was more a concern that you might skip the game because the avatar thing and I often get ignored with questionsMy apologies, I missed that post on page 3.
Thanks for the answer though. I appreciate it.
Yep has the same launch date as EU, 22nd.Wait the PC version doesn't come out until a day and 15 hours from now?
I wonder what's up with the weapon sounds changing, and pretty much improving across the board.
It seems like a strange thing for them to even bother doing. Maybe this isn't as much of a rush job as I thought.
