I really wonder where the Nintendo and Tencent partnership goes next. Games together?- Nintendo Co Ltd has shipped 1 million Switch consoles in China since it launched the device in the world's largest video games market at the end of 2019, its Chinese partner Tencent Holdings Ltd said on Monday.
So in 2020 the Switch sold in China almost the same amount of legal consoles projected to be sold in 2024 ? Did it over perform?

It's possible that FFVIIR still has Sony console exclusivity for another year or so.

Interesting. Thank you both.
Yeah this was expected.SE leaker has said ff7 remake P1 ps5/pc port soon.

I'm sitting here wondering if FF7R will get some ray tracing support for shadows and reflections. would be very nice given the art styleDo we think a port would do good for ps5? PC I get though, maybe ps5 sku can reach 3mil. PS4 is above 5mil now
I would be surprised if the game is not teased this year since it is the anniversary of the franchise.Yeah this was expected.
Don't expect new leaks or info about DQXII before end of the year.

It won't sell that much if it is a free upgrade for owners of the PS4 version. Probably 1m+ thanks to a longer tail but not like a new game.It will do very good probably, releasing this early in the system's life-cycle, and benefiting from sales seasons etc.
+
Maybe more people will be encouraged to pick it up with time if the rest of parts were received well and more people got interested.
I think the project (including PS4 version) will pass 10m mark in the future.
Biggest Q3 (Oct-Dec) in Japan
hardware
2012 3DS - 2.950.000
2006 NDS - 2.920.000
2011 3DS - 2.530.000
2013 3DS - 2.420.000
2019 NSW - 2.420.000
software (1997 and later, Nintendo only, PS2 and SNES could have an entry inside top 5 after top 3)
2006 NDS - 19.220.000
2008 NDS - 13.360.000
2007 NDS - 13.330.000
2019 NSW - 12.410.000
2013 3DS - 11.700.000
Switch was at 2,5m+ hardware sales and 14m+ software sales in 2020.
Majority of those who wanted to buy FFVIIR have already done it on PS4. PS5 and PC will worth the investment but won't bring any crazy numbers.
250k seems like a lot imo.Ps5 sku could be a big game for japan. Maybe pull in 250k sales which would be nice
Yeah, good luck.Ps5 sku could be a big game for japan. Maybe pull in 250k sales which would be nice
If you expect Part 2 before... 2024, I think you are being very optimistic. So FFVII part II Will release in 2021, with FFXVI slipping into next year?
If this SKU sells 50k physical, I'd consider that about right. It will do much better on PC in the west if it is a competent port.Ps5 sku could be a big game for japan. Maybe pull in 250k sales which would be nice

Pokémon Unite :)I really wonder where the Nintendo and Tencent partnership goes next. Games together?
That one will be huge in China.
I think the TPC and Tencent partnership is different from the one with Nintendo.
No company posts software shipments that don't include digital. Is this only physical software?
If so, could Switch 2020 be near 20mil software with digital?
maybe. remember when we though MK Tour was gonna be huge?
Oh, right. No company posts software shipments that don't include digital.

It is very hard to break into the MOBA market. I don't think TPC/Tencent will be able to pull it off. The question is how can Pokemon Unite pull users away from League, Arena of Valor, etc. It will be directly competing with the launch of Wild Rift as well. Having Pikachu in it alone won't be enough as we see from countless TPC failures on mobile and other platforms
MK Tour is a bad game.
It can't be more obvious that it's a typo, it goes from 2018 and 2019 to 2024.
Keep up the good work Zhuge, your insights on the Asian markets are very enlightening. Not a typo. Just the majority of our model is behind a paywall.
Square died of laughter.
Ironically that clone got a English release, game grumps even played it which probably put alot of eyes on itDo you know how many party games there are on Switch, at retail and eShop? If you don't release an interesting product not many will care, there isn't instant success for everything. Despite not having crazy development budget Konami put real effort begind Momotaro push from its announcement to its advertising. There was a Momotaro clone from its creator that flew under radar.
Imaginations from the other side, probably
Or wishful thinking, considering that I am way more interested in VII than XVI lol
I find it amusing how your judging how banjo would sell off crash 4 when crash 4 hasent even touched the platform where the audience would actually buy it atAnd Kinect Adventures! was the best selling Xbox 360 game (and the best selling Xbox first party game ever), sold over 25 million copies as it was bundled with Kinect, it's so weird seeing people call the 360 Kinect a flop just because the Xbox One one was. The 360 Kinect was very successful.
Anyway, going back to Rare, people seem to forget that Nintendo dropped Rare and had no problems with Microsoft acquiring them because their games had flopped, you can take a look at Crash 4's sales to see how a new Banjo would perform in today's market. Actually, I think that if a new Banjo comes out it'll be because of the flexibility Game Pass gives to studios more than anything. I really doubt Nintendo would be interested in acquiring Rare's IPs, but I do think that Microsoft would be willing to release a new Banjo game on Switch if they ever make one.
Obviously, though, Viva Piñata 3 should be a higher priority.
It will be more popular on Switch but it won't set the world on fire, that's my point. And Banjo would sell less than Crash in general.I find it amusing how your judging how banjo would sell off crash 4 when crash 4 hasent even touched the platform where the audience would actually buy it at
"Januray" lol
Which one of these games can help the PS5 in Japan? and how soon is it arriving?

Athia was announced before right? Also, why isn't XVI here.Project Athia possibly.... but it also implies FFXVI might be before that...
