Now that the cheaper dedicated handheld has released, it makes even more sense to compare switch to the Wii + DS and the 3ds + Wii U.
Why?

Nintendo did actually give some regional weekly sell-through graphs on the last few fiscal reports, if I remember correctly. But I think the JP numbers are sourced from MC, so it won't clear up this situation unless there indeed was a mistake with the MC report.official numbers from? Nintendo is 1 month later, and it won't be 1st week sold through number (unless miracle happens). mc don't give public numbers anymore. famitsu is up there. dengeki is tomorrow, or is it Friday I forgot.
Famitsu report is clear. If such mistake happened it's from Bloomberg side. Dengeki will (likely) give the solution. The OG+Lite combined figures for MC match exactly with the Famitsu Lite numbers (both at 178k). I wonder if there was a mistake with one of the reports misinterpreting the Lite numbers as both models combined or vice-versa?
if they'll talk about sell through again this time, it definitely won't be 1st week only. it'll be 11 days and at that point not many people cares about whether the reported mc 1st week number is correct or not.Nintendo did actually give some regional weekly sell-through graphs on the last few fiscal reports, if I remember correctly. The big story we should be talking about is the MASSIVE drop for PS3+PSP to PS4+Vita. A total disaster.
I get comparing it to 3DS+ Wii U... well not quite, but I at least kinda get it. DS+Wii is a useless comparison for any console that has ever existed or will ever exist. Now that the cheaper dedicated handheld has released, it makes even more sense to compare switch to the Wii + DS and the 3ds + Wii U.

This is such an event that even silpheed came back.
Like Chris said we didn't get the numbers from MC but from Bloomberg so Famitsu appears to be more reliable.
Why would Bloomberg misreport the numbers? How would that happen?Like Chris said we didn't get the numbers from MC but from Bloomberg so Famitsu appears to be more reliable.
Bloomberg or Citi clearly messed up here. Or maybe MC did.
Famitsu reports 178k for Switch Lite and 62k for Switch
Bloomberg reported 114k switch lite and 63k Switch. My guess is Media Create reported something like 177k for Switch Lite but someone misinterpreted it and instead assumed that was Switch total. So subtracted the 63k instead of adding it.
They maybe thought that 177k was for the Lite + OG and substracted 62k to have the Lite number ?Why would Bloomberg misreport the numbers? How would that happen?
That does make sense, especially if it's an infamous case of non-Japanese people trying to decipher Japanese reports. That 178k number is suspicious as hell lol
It's Luigi Time
We missed you man haha, all sorts of craziness has been happening in this thread it seems.
Only reason you would compare wii + ds sales number with anything is if your goal is to show how much mobile gaming has affected dedicated gaming devices. If that is your goal you also need to compare PS3 + PSP with PS4 + Vita.
I think the 3DS + wiiu comparison is dumb as that combo barley made any money. But we can have the comparison and it looks like Nintendo is doing great with one system instead of two.

Let's redo this one :Pso... Biggest non-launch switch weeks:

2. Week 50 2018: 281,213
3. Week 51 2018: 278,701
4. Week 51 2017: 269,684
5. Week 50 2017: 221,210

7. Week 1, 2019: 199,982
8. Week 38, 2019: 178k
It's like an AI looking at an archive of MC posts and just putting out common phrases."Even more sense"? Implying that it even made a lick of sense prior to this?
Pray tell. And consider the above comments too which you haven't responded to yet.

Haha I knew this was coming. So transparent...Now that the cheaper dedicated handheld has released, it makes even more sense to compare switch to the Wii + DS and the 3ds + Wii U.
Nah, there were some prediction around 150k-200k if there was a big enough shipment to support that. I dont think that too far fetched considering that the Switch Lite was announced a while ago, so people had a longer awareness time of the product existing/coming, and most importantly, the Switch Lite having a 10k yen cheaper price tag. My prediction was 150k-200k, but i do believe i was thinking of the Switch overall, including the older model as well. Going by the Famitsu numbers, it sold better than even my highest expectation =)Higher sales for Lite than a sane person would expect. And increased sales of real Switch too. Impressive.
still below 300k :^)
