I'm curious about the exact percentage, because if you take the extremes, you could have a situation where Omega had a smaller shipment than the non-Omega version. Doubt it is the case, but still I really didn't expect the PS4 version to do this badly compared to the Switch version.09./00. The game opened with less than 1/3 the sales of fw sales of the previous entry. Sony sure killed this franchise.09./00. [NSW] Omega Labyrinth Life <RPG> (D3Publisher) {2019.08.01} (¥7.800) - 6.643 / NEW <60-80%>

Wasn't the marketing just them mocking the PS4 version?I'm curious about the exact percentage, because if you take the extremes, you could have a situation where Omega had a smaller shipment than the non-Omega version. I'd say they should have made a vita version, but I guess Sony's policies extend to that as well?
Because that would mean Sony HQ has to acknowledge the Vita
Yes, but still that 20-40% is harsh.
I want to read a book/article about what happened with the Vita. It would be fascinating to hear the perspectives of higher ups and people in the know.
The safe assumption is that Sony simply saw the poor sells in the west and cut support quick.Yes, but still that 20-40% is harsh.

according to AniHawk , I think it was, Sony NA was never too keen on the Vita after the PSP. which set the stage for them not caring in the first placeThe safe assumption is that Sony simply saw the poor sells in the west and cut support quick.

It's weird how long they kept printing those. Until a few years ago they were readily available for sale on the Square Enix Store. Not surprised to see Dragon Quest V on the charts. They still have copies for sale at many major retailers in Tokyo. (Along with other old SE DS games like Chrono Trigger)

I know I was only joking. I always get jumped on if I ever mention the west!

From the moment preorders opened this was never the case, I don't know where this idea PS4 would easily beat Switch came from.I'm curious about the exact percentage, because if you take the extremes, you could have a situation where Omega had a smaller shipment than the non-Omega version. True. I guess I just figured the price difference outweighed the features removed. It really didn't seem that major, but I don't play these games so I guess I'm not a good judge. Guess people wanted the "pure" experience. From the moment preorders opened this was never the case, I don't know where this idea PS4 would easily beat Switch came from.
Crash was supposed to be closely attached to Sony too and you see what Racing sold there. Switch could even overtake it in the long run.
Buyers are less loyal than companies.
Last shared top 1000 from Famitsu was from 2013 and DQV reprint was at 159.534 there. Apparently Famitsu continued tracking DS software for several years more.
Media Create stopped tracking new DS software in 2013 but they had it from then at 203.203
Tetris 99 is free for NSO subscribers. Standalone release won't do many things.Curious to see, how much can do Tetris 99 at retail in Japan and also on others territories. ( million seller WW... )
.
I don't think we have any indications that japanese players aren't liking the game, or less than the 3DS entries. If anything it seems to be the opposite with that 4.2 rating on amazon. The idea of a game being (bigger/better) doesn't work very well in the Japanese market. I can think of many reasons why FETH didn't sell more:
- The art style honestly is not very appealing. It feels like a step down from Kozaki's work.
- They toned down the romance/otaku stuff significantly.
- Strangely, the Japanese text for the game is very simple and straightforward. they did that probably to appeal to younger players, but the localization vastly improved the text and the story/characters benefited from that greatly. I don't know Japanese, but I have a basic understanding of whats being said and the English text is much more detailed.
The game is not doing bad considering digital share which is probably high, but I hoped for more.
It's already out. But other than that I know nothing about the story. Thought it was original.
Had to google, but from what i gathered, it's and adaption of "Hand of the Heavenly Bride", so i guess that's the main reason for the bump. Less so the Smash DLC, given that the DQ V hero isn't one of the playable ones and only appears in the Hero's Final Smash.
To be honest, I feel that end of August thing isn't quite a date set in stone, and more when they expect to be rid of the remaining OG units for the new ones to take their place. The new model is already available in some countries after all.

It will be funny if at the end the new model arrives later in September. That would mean that it took more time than Nintendo expected to clear the old model stock.
If that happens they are the ones to blame for the way they did all those announcements, that slowed down sales.
Are you really surprised though ? They could port Chrono Trigger or FF VI Steam to Switch(and other consoles) in a couple of weeks and probably sell 500k copies. Its not happening though....for reasons.Surprised Squeenix did nothing to capitalise on that on consoles (they do have a sale on mobile version iirc). Obviously not a full blown remake, but at the very least a port on digital stores.
On the PS4 for sure. It doesnt look like the Switch helped it much either compared to the previous game. We'll see if they do another sequel in the serie or not.The game opened with less than 1/3 the sales of fw sales of the previous entry. Sony sure killed this franchise.
43./53. [NSW] Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission <TBL> (Bandai Namco Games) {2019.04.04} (¥6.800) - 744 / 136.244
Looks like Dragon Quest Builders 2 is at 1.1 million units worldwide (shipments). I believe Japan is at least at 500k at retail.
In line with DQB which crossed 1.1m a month after the Western launch.
Okay thanks. All the positive word of mouth has me interested, but my slate is full for the near term.In line with DQB which crossed 1.1m a month after the Western launch.
Decline in Japan but growth in the West, the game should start outpacing the first entry now.
