Regardless of carts taking more time to manufacture, market research from their last few Switch games would make it apparent that having stock parity between the two versions would've been a solid outcome instead of what is repeating again now. Which is worse because it's a shortage during a pandemic.

Game had pretty much stock parity at launch. Initial sell-through was very high for both versions.

The difference was in the restock speed.

So looking at Capcom's recently updated Platinum and Franchise charts (and doing some fuzzy math) it appears the DMC1-3SE ports may have collectively sold 500k on Switch. Also DDDA may have sold 600k on Switch, and MHGU should be up to 1.7m on Switch.
I have to hand it to the late Revolsin. They thought 2M was doable, and I doubted it. It sure looks like MHGU is going to do 2M. Amazing performance, being a late port of a deluxe edition of a spin-off that furthermore looks distinctly like a 3DS.

Those other sales are amazing as well, Capcom is garnering some incredible sales despite awful effort.

Post GW update:

EYDsievWsAAfCHe

- Factoring March digital, Animal Crossing: New Horizons outsold New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Monster Hunter Freedom 3
- Next target is Pokémon Ruby/Saphire
- Animal Crossing: New Leaf and 6m should be reached by the end of June
- All-time record in sight !
It's a sight to behold but I can't help but wonder if we will ever see a game sell like this in Japan again. It really is the perfect storm.

ニンテンドーeショップで配信される新作ソフトの情報をお知らせする「ニンテンドーeショップ新作入荷情報」! 今回は、5/9(土)~5/15(金)に配信された新作ソフト情報と、先週ニン

Filled with anger and resentment towards Nintendo who killed it with NSO, Splatoon 2 has risen from the grave and murdered ACNH in broad daylight. Could've become best-selling game ever in Japan, such a shame.
Just curious about where the info for 11-20 is listed for the Switch download rankings. I'm only seeing the top 10 in the page you linked.

Not doubting them, but where do they even get such information about My Nintendo Store?

or was it deduced from Nintendo's financials?

I think it's just a deduction from the financial report. Nintendo reported 890k shipped at the end of March, while Famitsu was counting 745k sold as of Week 13. These last two week's sales reports are enough to put it over 1 million, even with fair sized margin of error.

Since 890k were shipped by March, the difference is MyNintendoStore units, or retailers are doing lotteries just because and their warehouses are full. lol

S-E haven't learnt a damn thing since the 3DS era. It's remarkable how they JUST KEEP under-shipping their games; and then they whine about not selling enough.

It's just self-sabotage at this point.

Anything interesting discussion wise from capcoms recent results?

Didn't know RE7 had effectively passed Re6 for one

Vouchers really did their thing:

- Smash went from ~15% untracked sales as of March 2019 to ~30% during FY19
- Mario Party: ~19% ---> ~36%
- Splatoon: ~12% ---> ~25%
- Mario Kart: ~13% ---> ~35%
- Zelda: ~19% ---> ~39%

The digital ratio for Nintendo games basically doubled after the introduction of vouchers.

Yeah Mario Party and Mario Kart definitely benefited from that – although Mario Party did see the return of the Joy Con bundle which evens things out a bit. Did Zelda, Splatoon and Smash get some too?
New year's promotion had these games
Nintendo new year's 30% off eShop promotion ends at 13 January (started at 30 December). 8 titles were included, 3 of them charted in top 20 at previous week.

[NSW] Mario Kart 8 Deluxe <RCE> (Nintendo) {2017.04.28} (¥5.980)

Vouchers helped but there were also discount periods at eShop.

But how about BotW? That's like the only game I never see on sale at least compared to MK8D and SMP.

Is it the exception here

Edit: 19% -> 39% is a lot, I think this is why there is a big difference in sell thru vs shipments

Capcom - Re8 , SF6
MH:W2

If Capcom is a part of PS5 event, I want MatrixMan to come explain why games "take time to make" for Switch, but the same logic doesn't apply to Sony. He'll probably blabber about how PlayStation is a strong brand and blah blah sales support next-gen year 1 support while ignoring that Capcom games sold millions on previous Nintendo handhelds. He's been simping for Capcom for far too long. I wonder how long will MatrixMan use that excuse...maybe even after Switch's successor comes out?

Cross gen games

I don't think we'll get full-blown next gen exclusive at that event (except maybe SFVI).

I think that's a bit uncalled for. I've definitely disagreed with him in the past but he's good people, and hasn't done anything wrong.

Attack the points, not the people. The idea that third parties just needed time has been quite thoroughly disproven on its own merits.

Capcom could be one of the few developers that will go again next gen exclusive from early with some smaller titles.

I think that's a bit uncalled for. I've definitely disagreed with him in the past but he's good people, and hasn't done anything wrong.

Attack the points, not the people. The idea that third parties just needed time has been quite thoroughly disproven on its own merits.

Nah. It's not like he's never been passive-aggressive toward others. You might like him, but I don't. Calling him out for the points he made is pretty tame compared to people here mocking Kerotan and laughing as he got banned. People are multi-faceted. They might have been nice to you, and you might view him more positively. But he's always been like "I told you so" and "you guys don't understand how business works" a lot of times when it comes to Capcom. I don't like that self-righteous and condescending attitude. "Good" really depends on your perception. For example, you can think I'm a terrible person for calling him out because you like him as a person more and I'm fine with that. It's all about your perception.

I wonder how long will MatrixMan use that excuse...maybe even after Switch's successor comes out?

simping? Oof.

Worldwide, digital for Animal Crossing was around 50% and for Final Fantasy VII Remake a little over 40% for the reported periods.

Weird post - at least tag the person if you wanna call someone out.
Regardless of what was said or implied , plans change all the time.

Blaming users for the decisions of massive cooperation doesnt make alot of sense - especially since all he has been repeating was what Capcom themselves said when they were asked about Switch support in 2017.

Personally i still think MH Switch is happening and might have been already revealed if it wasnt CV19 - but time will tell.
