Nope, complete bullshit. And that shit sets a terrible precendent. If there exists standards by which elections could be delayed, you allow indefinite postponement of elections.
Again, the states themselves would have to do this, they're the ones who actually run the elections.
According to the story the independent body - the electoral commission - suggested to delay until autumn, i.e. 4-5 months. Or am I misunderstanding?
Is the rationale here that the voting papers - which are handled by many people - can effectively transmit the virus? I thought it doesn't survive on surfaces for an extended time. I mean if it did then paper money would be banned.

They probably can, but not like this where it's just declared and everyone goes "ok"
It's probably to do with a) gathering at the polls, and b) not wanting to disenfranchise the quarantined.
This is really scary. The conditions for such an action hopefully are very very specific and non partisan.
Are there so few polls in elections in the UK that people gather around them in the hundreds? And if so are shopping centers and sports games and schools going to be closed for a year too?
