Not America
Looks like someone heard me complaining earlier.

At this point, there is no reason for PS5 users to opt for "Favour framerate".

Also, the choice of wording is interesting- the word "up to" preceding framerate and not resolution gives me pause. Guess DF, VGTech and others will have a field day testing the titles upon launch.

Do our eyes honestly get any tangible benefit out of 240fps? That just seems insane.

its less noticable than going from 60 to 120, but yes, i can see a difference between 165hz and 240hz.

but only a few games can really do 200+ fps consistentyl even on a 3080, loads of engine bottlenecks and whatnot.

I really hope this run well on PC. 1080p60fps is all I ask.
What's your system specs? Only ME1 is seeing large upgrades, I'm interested to see if it has any performance regression as a result too but with the ALOT texture + lighting packs all current games are 60fps 4k on my 1660, with a few drops in certain scenes. I would think that ME2/ME3 would likely see a performance uplift even from moving to DX11 or DX9.

It's okay guys, you'll get your PS5 native version a year from now once EA is sure you've already dipped once

not entirely serious

Ah i see now. So in quality mode it runs at the max settings with unlocked fps at 4k so its hopefully a stable 60 and looks the same as the pro quality mode

I think I'll favor image quality for this one, so I'll go with 4k at 60 fps. I'll definitely check out the 120 fps mode though. A very nice option to have!

based on some of EA's behavior thus far, I would be shocked if they charged current owners to upgrade. but not truly shocked I guess

I'm happy to see there's an option for 60fps on base PS4.

Curious about the changes though.

You'd think if Series X can do 1440p 120fps that both consoles would be able to do 4K at 60 and the performance mode would be unnecessary?

Edit: realised It's probably just there for the benefit of the PS4/Xbox One versions.

Diminishing returns but if the engine can handle it, why not. Extremely niche market of course, but basically just a way to say "We support PC".

yeah that's fair. I'll probably go for 4K and see where my framerate lands after the fact. I'm expecting around 120ish, but it's hard to say since the original Mass Effect ports were capped at 60.

Either way, I appreciate that they updated the games to properly support higher framerates.

I'm taking this as confirmation from you, Mass Effect, about the video game Mass Effect

uh no don't do that

guess this means I get the blame if the ports are bad? 😅

Hot damn i get to play the entire series in 120 frames? Wowzer. What's even better is all of the dlc will be new for me since i only completed the base games way back when.

I'm sorry, but why can't the PS4 Pro version's fps be unlocked (thus shooting the PS5 version up to, or close to, 120fps)

Seems like lazy development.

You are using PS4 APIs and the PS4 SDK. It is literally not offered to the developers as an option to go above 60Hz.

As a dev, there is nothing you can do. That's like asking why there are no AppStore apps which can replace Siri. Can't be done.

I guess I'll have to invest in a 120hz TV eventually, I honestly didn't expect it'd be so useful so soon.

I do think a legitimate question would be that why, in 2021, they are not releasing native X|S/PS5 versions

It's nice to see 60hz and 120hz support. Now let's see how they hold their performance.

A native version would still be better since 4k 120 would be possible.

Man if I had a 120Hz TV I'd be more than happy dropping to 1440p for 120fps.

Curse my bad decisions a couple of years ago.

Paying a little extra for a 4k/120hz TV last year is starting to pay off. So glad it's getting more support even if it is just Call of Duty and some last gen games for now

Quality mode is up to 60.

Which means drops.

framerate mode is up to 60 too. But i understand now why its bigger ress, because its the pro version just unlocked fps. Also up to probably means its there 99% of the time they just covering their ass because of the internet :D

I like the way every Xbox SKU is looking on that chart. I hope the everything below the Series X holds up well in testing.

Wish I had a 120Hz TV to go with my XSX, but I'll be happy with 4k/60FPS.

Why do they release a game in 2021 without a PS5/XSX client?
