Destroy.

It's Shepard's mission and he gets it done. Sure as shit not changing my mind because some obvious AI-overlord tells me otherwise lol. Even if it somehow ends up being the better long term answer, it made zero sense for my Shepard to believe any of it, especially after everything he's been through.

Those who opted Synthesis ending, isn't that what the reapers were doing?
Merging synth and organics into a single entities?
It seriously feels like Saren's goal in the first game....

"I'm not doing this for myself. Don't you see, Sovreign will succeed. It is inevitable. My way is the only way any of us will survive. I'm forging an alliance between us and the Reapers, between organics and machines, and in doing so, I will save more lives than have ever existed. But you would undo my work. You would doom our entire civilization to complete annihilation, and for that, you must die."

"Eternal. Infinite. Immortal. The woman I was used these words, but only now do I truly understand them. And only now do I understand the full extent of her sacrifice. Through her death, I was created. Through my birth, her thoughts were freed. They guide me now, give me reason, direction. Just as she gave direction to the ones who followed her. The ones who helped her achieve her purpose. Now my purpose. To give the many hope for a future. To ensure that all have a voice in their future. The woman I was knew that she could only achieve this by becoming something greater. There is power in control. There is wisdom in harnessing the strengths of your enemy. I will rebuild what the many have lost. I will creature a future with limitless possibilities. I will protect and sustain. I will act as guardian for the many. And throughout it all, I will never forget. I will remember the ones who sacrificed themselves so that the many could survive. And I will watch over the ones who live on. Those who carry the memory of the woman I once was. The woman who gave up her life to become the one who could save the many."

There is no other option for my Shepard than Control. The goal wasn't to kill Reapers, it was to save lives.

Where was it implied that everyone will be the same in the synth ending? It seems like the only ending that leads to true peace

In my head EDI and the Geth survive in some way if you get the secret destroy ending, since Shepard survived too even though he's part synthetic.

I'm not going to argue one as the "canon" ending, but I get the suspicion that Casey Hudon and Mac Walters didn't anticipate for the Synthesis ending to get as negatively received as it did. Because let's be real, it's the sudden 11th-hour "third" choice because up till that point, you were only really presented with the possibility of destroying or controlling the reapers. And that one ties into finally achieving the harmony between Organic and Synthetic Life.

It's also a massive fucking violation of everyone's individuality. lol

Destroy basically undermines everything you did to gain peace between the Geth and the Quarians.

Control is fucking dumb because it places Shepard on this insane pedestal because it's Shepard and only Shepard who can have the unlimited power of the reapers under their control and not get corrupted by their own self-interests. This one requires too much Suspension of Disbelief.

I pick Synthesis most often, with Control being my only other go-to.

That said, I'm OK with canonizing Destroy if that's where the galaxy next takes us. I dislike that ending but I get it.

Alright, I just wrapped up. I went Destroy.

Catalyst: Uhhh, you shouldn't do that because Organics are totally going to create reapers again in the future. Source: Trust Me.

Fuck you kid.

Didn't fight for the Geth just to kill them all in the end, so went Synthesis in my game. Issue is though I still don't think they explain how Synthesis works out really unless there was more in the directors cut on what exactly happens.

I did not help my bestest robot friend legion free its people from the shackles of oppression just to kill them all 3 days later. So either Synth or Control for me.

I accidentally shot that kid.
I posted about it earlier, but I had no idea that was an option.

I just spent the last month playing all three
games, going through every conversation and quest I could, only to fire off my gun at a hologram by accident, ensuring the death of the universe.

Back in my day, shooting him wasn't an option, it was just something you did before you picked one of the other three!

They added that option in the Priorty: Earth DLC that fixed the ending

Synthesis, I actually really like it (but I've never understood the extreme hates these endings get) I'll be ok if Destroy is canon as long as the Geth/EDI/any other synthetic life are ok, the Genociding An Entire Innocent People thing makes destroy a non-option for me.

Control was a fitting end to my Renegade Shepard, becoming a god is what she would do given the chance.

I mean look at her.

Just like real life decisions at some point.

Sometimes there's no win-win scenarios, but you still have to pull the trigger on the right thing to do.

Destroy was my initial pick many years ago and everything I'm living again with ME:LE brings me to just repeat that decision.

Fuck Reapers and Cerberus once and for all.
Next time the universe will think twice before creating Smart AIs. Meanwhile it can re-start with real individuality and freedom like it should be.

Destroy seems canon, judging by the teaser trailer for the next game, so... Destroy. Also, the other endings seemed gross to me, considering the modus operandi of the entire trilogy is 'fuck the reapers and everything they stand for'.

Sidenote: I feel like I'm the only person in the world who thinks that Mass Effect 3 is BY FAR the best one in the trilogy, even with its ending.

We're the only two.

Bumping this just because it's the best place to put it. I finally got around to completing all three, and I will be damned if, after telling the Reapers to fuck off, telling the Illusive Man he was wrong to control, indoctrination being a terrible thing, peace between species, that Shepard isn't going to be alive and an actual human being by the end of the damned thing. It still bugs me to hear that Catalyst kid talk about inevitability of conflict despite achieving peace with the Geth and Quarians.

It bothers me that she lives but isn't with Samantha Traynor (who I went with after Thane died). Man, why couldn't you just escaping and being with all your crew be ONE option. Make it really hard to get, but make it possible. :(
