Visually it looks amazing but it's just so weird seeing a different avengers from the one I know, very excited tho.

Man, that presentation was a mess.

They barely told or shown anything about the game. It shouldn't be that hard.

But it might end up a by the numbers action game from the looks of it. What a bad presentation.

This game is coming very close to FFVII, I'll never understand how they show a "In-Engine" trailer when the game is less than a year away... Why not make a gameplay presentation like they did for FF VII, that was perfect.

Are people really trying to claim Nolan North doesn't have range?

I don't think it would be fair to say that, but I do think his range exists at the Merasmus / Richtofen level of zany affectations. Anything subtle just sounds like him, be it Superman or Tony Stark.

Edit: He is versatile and very skilled nonetheless, and I'm sure having him recognizably playing Tony Stark was an intentional attempt at emulating the familiarity people have with the cast of the movies.

This is one of the reasons why I think this might not actually meet its release date after all. I mean, it will depend how good the game will look in gameplay, but I have a feeling that whatever kinks this game has, they will make sure it doesn't before it's released. The idea of this game as a Glass, regardless of how much unpopular it might look, it's just too good for them to just shrug it and release it without being something as good as Spider-Man or better.

I am not super jazzed about this title because the trailer didn't fill me with confidence that the narrative will be great. Even the central story conceit feels a little too close to what we've seen explored in the last few films. Add on top of that the weak art direction and questionable casting and now the game is fighting an uphill battle in my mind.

I haven't been impressed with CD's TR narratives and cutscene direction either, so I didn't come in with high expectations.

This was a very poor showing. I don't have a lot of confidence in this. The people they got on stage and the voice actors seemed clueless.

In all honesty, why the fuck are the same four people responsible for half of the starring roles across all of AAA gaming?

Te problem with the faces (at least for me) is not that they don't look realistic, it's that it feels wrong to see somebody that is not Chris Evans as Captain America, RDJ as Iron Man etc when it has such a realistic art style. It feels like some low rent theatre troupe version called The Revengers.
Or like they just caught the actors stunt doubles by mistake:

Really wish they fix the faces. Or this game will be impossible to play just because of how jarring their design is.

I don't see it. Banner is very MCU. The costumes designs are very MCU. The lineup is very MCU.

They are trying to launch off of the movie perception of the Avengers, which cartoons have done too.

I don't mean the character designs (which overall, even in the comics, has been gradually influenced by the MCU, GOTG especially to this point)

What I mean is the general plot, the personalities, and the overall world. Tidbits like the terrigen reactor/crystal and Hank Pym as Ant-Man, and the depiction of the Avengers organisation (with their own celebration events and helicarrier). And we haven't seen the full lineup yet.

The poster I was replying to wondered if this game was trying to distance itself from the MCU, which I don't think is the case at all. Like Spidey, its a reinterpretation that takes elements from many stories and puts a degree of MCU coating (largely the iconography of the characters) over itself.

Is this part of the same universe as Spidey PS4, the "MGU"? It's called "Marvel's _" in the same way, seems to intentionally have a very similar style, etc. The characters are also very clearly NOT the MCU ones.

Also:
  • Story begins at A-Day celebrating Avengers West Coast Headquarters
Them being out west (and thus not showing up in NYC) is mentioned in Spidey.

I'm sure he does it more than I'm thinking, but does Thor hover like he does at 0:52 much?

Doesn't he throw himself around with the hammer? I've never read many comics with him, but the idea of him floating and holding his hammer without spinning it feels off. But he has to do that often, right?

Crazy that I'm the one bringing the updates about stuff about the game here, I usually pretty much finding relevant info about games before people are commenting on it, but I bring good news:

Right from the director's mouth, and what there were that it looked gameplay it looked absolutely brilliant, imho. Didn't know that the director of Uncharted: Lost Legacy was the one directing this, I love that game.

I'm going to against the grain here and say that to me, Spider-Man doesn't as well. I was saying since the first trailer that said game had no business being photoreal, and then Into the Spider-Verse came along and proved me right.

I agree and it's annoying everyone gives the eyebrow when I say I don't like the way Spidey PS4 looks overall. Everything is just so meh. The character models especially are incredibly meh (from a visual appeal, not detail). Better than this Avengers, but still incredibly meh! This idea that these games need to look more photo-real and characters all "every man" looking is honestly quite boring. You could argue Ultimate Alliance 3 is a generic cartoon, but that looks so much more eye catching and appealing to me than whatever this Avengers game is trying to do. Oh, and that comic suit in the Spidey PS4 game? I wished the whole game looked like that!

lol, when I saw this trailer I kept thinking of that line from, er ... what was it now? The Simpsons I think ... probably:-

"Similar to [Robert Downey Jnr] but legally distinct from [Robert Downey Jnr]"

To be fair I think people here really mean they want to see a gameplay walkthrough of how it actually plays normally, not a couple seconds of spliced-together scripted events and hud-less snippets.

I'm still bloody excited by what I saw. Also, there's going to be a E3 Coliseum panel at 1pm, where we maybe will see more of the game (since they did say they have a demo on the E3 floor).

Please help me understand the trend of this year's E3.
Avengers comes out in a year, which implies that they could show actual gameplay. If the game-develop isn't there yet, well, then the game won't come out in a year.
It's friggin' Avengers! Biggest franchise right now and they are showing just a CGI-trailer with some butt-faces. I really can't believe this timeline is happening.
Of course I'm wearing tinfoil right now and expecting the worst outcome, because we've been burned this gen so often.
So even if those little snippets were actual gameplay, I'm expecting huge downgrades or it looking completely different/less impressive in a not quickly cut-together scenario.

There was gameplay. But sure, would have been nice to see more.

I felt the same way about Peter parker's face for a while in the latest spiderman game. But it eventually grew on me.

I'm just guessing, but I imagine make a polished e3 gameplay demo would take months that is better spent on finishing the game instead. so it's easier to show in game cinematic or cg trailer that didn't change much between now and release. a gameplay demo is probably harder to do, game design may changed here and there, or they will need to find and fix bugs so they didn't have shit happen during presentation etc.

Once again, we're talking Avengers here. Every friggin game on the planet gets at least a 2-5 minute gameplay-trailer one year prior release. I'm not talking about an on-stage demonstration.

There is a demo on the SE show floor. We'll probably see some footage soon enough. (Or hear about it.)

Character models are awful, what in the hell. Feels like they were made for an Ultimate Alliance game that isn't for switch.
The Thor voice is so bad.

And the character designs are so close to the movie designs, but without the actual famous actors, that it gives the whole thing a "Disney Avengers on Ice" feel.
To be honest, I wasn't expecting much and I still came away disappointed. It looked like a mobile game when it comes to the characters faces and the general tone of what was going on. Iron Man's helmet looks ridiculous, and Captain America and Thor's faces are just abysmal.

None of this was made any better by the canned, fake-excitement of the crowd cheering for everything and anything shown...
That true believers thing just gave me full body cringe.
Same here. I understand it's a slogan of theirs; but when I hear it, it makes my skin crawl and I feel overall embarrassed that I was anywhere that I was when I heard it.

Just gonna run down my thoughts on the designs real quick.

Cap and Thor don't look good.

Iron Man's armor looks bad, but his face looks good.

Black Widow looks different than most depictions, but pretty good.

Hulk looks good.

Saw this on Twitter and it really just highlights how awful the Iron Man design is in this. The whole shape of the helmet makes him look like some cutesy Japanese Anime robot. Just awful.

The actual body itself is fine but the helmet needs a serious rework. I'm not saying make it like the movie, but it's so bad in it's current state.

It's much closer to the comics than the movie version with the eyes and all. It's fine.

Glad I'm not the only one who hates the character designs. The worst part is it looks looks a choice. They wanted to ride the popularity of the MCU versions, but cheapened out on their likeness and ended up with a porn parody looking thing

Maybe they have to design the faces differently from the movie because some copyright issue?
I mean, they cannot make Capt' face (and other faces also) similar with Chris Evans face because they have to pay some royalty to him?
Anyhow, this is a "wait and see" game for me.

I was starting to think I went nuts with people talking about the helmet. I mean, people will complain if it's more accurate to the films or if it's more accurate to the comics. I like how they are following Insomniac's philosophy and doing their own thing.

Yup, exactly. I also like their Hank Pym version, but that jacket thing has to go lol.

I just wish I know what the gameplay loop actually looks like.
