Could we do quotes (or unfurl links) for those not seeing twitter embeds? (At least in the OP, as this is a stickied thread.)

Such a depressing thing to wake up to in Washington. I feel horrible for all of those employees.

Malls not being ordered to close at this point is insanely irresponsible . I work at a mall and it was packed yesterday with families and seniors who should have been staying the fuck home.

How long the California rules? I was planning to fly in for Swanfest April 25th, which appears to still be on.

I'm pretty sure it's mandatory correct me if I'm wrong
He followed with a veiled threat that he could make it law very quickly, I feel he's waiting to give them a transition period to let the smart ones tool over so he can look like the good guy but I'm sure a mandate is coming in the next day or two
CA is slowing closing it's casinos. Closures are making their way up north. Commerce casino, a giant poker room, finally closed down due to the virus. They should all be shut down imo.
Chumash closed(2?) days ago now but they are usually on the ball for following stuff that's going on

Slightly off-topic I guess, but a lot of places are still open for take out and delivery. Is that, like, safe right now? Like, if someone cooking your burger has COVID-19, could you get it from that? Worried for my parents since they are elderly and eat out all the time.

I mean if they cough on it sure. We run that risk catching something from someone preparing our food regardless.

A good friend is supposed to be getting married next week, I called the hotel (instead of friend because I'm sure they are stressed to hell and back as it is) and they say it's still on....do the restrictions on large gatherings have no effect on private ballroom/meeting rental? Are they just holding out hoping to get as much money until forced to shut down? I'll not go regardless but I'm curious how the details of these bans work out?

Thanks for not going. Convince them not to go. They don't want to be responsible for any deaths caused.

Maryland's governor has followed suit:

www.baltimoresun.com

Maryland bars, restaurants close under order of Gov. Hogan, who expects coronavirus case numbers to soar

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has ordered the shutdown of all bars, restaurants, movie theaters and gyms by 5 p.m. Monday to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. He also ordered health officials to assess whether closed hospitals could reopen to increase capacity by 6,000 beds.

Shutting down all bars, restaurants, gyms, and movie theaters, limiting gatherings to 50 or less. Subject to enforcement under law.

Also barring all evictions and utility shutoffs.

Any chance we can organize a post grouping closures by state for clarity and less duplication?

is there way to get more info about this?? a friend was supposed to go to a hotel in NYC in two weeks but he will stay home and not fly there.

the asshole hotel says it is keeping the money because of him not showing up.

What can he do about it? hope NYC authorities casually mentions "hotels" or something?

Are movie theaters in Ma closed? Hard to keep a theater open when limiting public gatherings to 25 people.

I worked at AMC, they'll never close unless forced to.

more (for indy, wonder if other counties will follow)

"By 8 a.m. Tuesday, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett ordered all fitness facilities, bars that don't sell food, and movie theaters to close.

Grocery stores and cafeterias in hospitals, nursing homes and other healthcare facilities will remain open.

Hogsett said these guidelines will remain in place through at least the next seven days. According to a press release, he hopes to get approval at Monday night's City-County Council meeting to extend the order through at least April 5."
